When the Wolf Creek Reservoir was being built for Cumberland Lake the US Army Corps of Engineers had to move several cemeteries. Quite a few graves were moved to BEECH GROVE CEMETERY. Does anyone know where this cemetery is located? Any help would be appreciated. Allen E. Long
To whom it may concern: Each e-mail I receive from this mail list, comes to me in duplicate. Thanks for your help on this matter, Dee
My ggg grandmother, Milly Upchurch Matthews is buried at the cemetery at Stop KY just west of Monticello. Her husband was James Matthews and his parents were James Matthews and Martha Walker Matthews. Just across the road from the Stop Cemetery, Harrison Matthews/Mathews and Myra Ramsey Matthews/Mathews used to live. I feel sure they are related to my family. Could anyone on the list help me make the connection? Thanks so much for any help. Larry Matthews [email protected]

Hi, Is there anyone out there working on the Sharp, Richardson, Turpin and Barclay Lines circa 1800-1820's in Whitely or Wayne County. I think that Samuel Sharp and Susanna were living in one of these counties. Susanna Sharp married Soloman Turpin in Wayne County within this time period. Some researchers have Susanna as daughter of Samuel Sharp and Susanna Noland/Nowlin. It is possible that Isom Sharp married Nancy Barclay in same area/same time period. Does anyone have any information. I am researching these lines and will share any information that I have. Adell Sharp - [email protected]

My great grandfather was JOHN PAYTON HORTON, born January 25, 1836 (according to his death certificate) or February 23, 1837 (according to his tombstone) and died March 29, 1924. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Dabney. Census records give his occupation as 'farmer". Though his daughter, my grandmother, says he was a judge (justice of peace?) around the time the courthouse burned in 1888. My grandmother who was 6 years old when the courthouse burned remembers the fire and says they lived next door at the time. Can anyone tell me or direct me where I could find verification that John P. Horton served as a judge or justice of peace in Wayne County, KY around 1888? Or can anyone tell me or direct me to information about the courthouse fire? Thanks so much, Colleen Beck-Domanico
