I just joined your list and am hoping that someone can help. (Aren't we all looking for that?!?) I am in a strange bind. I need to know the county where a marriage took place. I know the name: James Craig to Savilla Hanks. I know the date: 21 Mar/Apr 1803. I know the state: KY. I need to know the county. I am checking all of the counties in close proximity to where they lived. Thanks in advance, Michelle Clark hiswill@midwest.net At first there was nothing. Then God said 'Let there be light!' Then there was still nothing. But you could see it.

Just signed on to this list. I am looking for any Singletons in Warren County circa 1875. Amanda Baldwins@jetlink.net
Hi everyone, I am a new subscriber to this list and I am wondering if anyone on this list server might have any knowledge of the ALMOND family of Warren and Edmonson County, Kentucky. My ancestor was WYATT ALMOND, and he appears to have died there in Warren Co., KY., sometime after 1846 and prior to 1850. He was married to Susannah Ware and she was remarried after Wyatt's death, in Warren Co., ILLINOIS, to Thomas Gunter, SR., who was also a widower whose first wife was Susanhah's sister Mary Ware. Wyatt Almond and Susannah and Mary Ware were all born in Louisa Co., VA., and came to Warren Co., KY., about 1815. They were listed on the 1820 census of same as well as the 1825 tax list and the 1830 census of Edmonson Co., KY., however, his children were married in Warren Co., KY., so he must have moved back to Warren Co., KY, sometime after 1830. His wife was listed on the 1850 census of Warren Co., KY, with two children named Zachariah Almond and Emily Almond. Other children were named Wilson J. Almond, William S. Almond, Rebecca Almond, Elizabeth Mildred Almond, Juliana? Almond, and my ancestress Susan Frances Almond. If any of you have any information on this ALMOND family, please contact me. Thanks/Kelly

Several of my Fayette Co., IL, ancestors migrated from Warren Co., KY. Following are Warren Co., KY, marriages of some of my direct ancestors. I would be interested in exchanging information on any of these lines. George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK m. Rachel LANDERS, 11 Oct 1805. Jacob LANDERS m. Sarah (or Sally) JOHNSON, 25 Nov 1808. Levi VIRDEN m. Rachel LEE, 4 May 1817. John SEARS m. Hannah Ione JOHNSON, 27 Dec. 1817. Does anyone know why so many Warren Co., KY, families migrated to Hurricane Township, Fayette Co., IL?

Good Morning Everyone, I Just wanted to share what happened yesterday, as a result of this list. I had emailed in a question about Smith's Grove, and got many kind responses (THANK YOU!). I have to preface this and say that with the exception of my brother, all birth relatives are deceased. I received a response from Lorraine, in B.C., and guess what? She and I are directly related. She phoned last night and has been researching my family for years. She has so much information, that she can't decide how to get it to me. WOW! She has visited all the burial sites and has valuable documents and photos. One of these families, the WRIGHT's is a fairly common name, and I didn't know where to go next. Not only that, but my Great Aunt, who I was close to, taught her to knit when she was a girl, and she knew my great-grandparents! Isn't technology great. A BIG thank you to Lorraine and all the kind lister's who responded. Miracles really can happen! Faye Heider Helligas helligas@uswest.net
Smiths Grove is located about 30 miles northeast of Bowling Green. It is just off I-65. All records for Smiths Grove will be located in Bowling Green. Bowling Green is the county seat of Warren County. You will be able to find the marriage certificates in Bowling Green. There is a large cemetery in Smiths Grove. It is located just off Main Street. My in-laws owned a small laundry in Smiths Grove and I was there very often. The laundry was shut down about 2 years ago. If you need any help, I live in Bowling Green and will be glad to try to assist you. I believe the name of the cemetary is the Odd Fellows Cemetary. Thanks
Faye, Look at a road map, find Bowling Green, Smith's Grove is northeast. If I'm looking at my map correctly, Hwy 68 runs east from Hopkinsville, thru Russellville and then goes a little northeast to Bowling Green and then continues northeast for maybe 30 miles and there is Smith's Grove. Is this all about as clear as mud.
