    1. [KYWAR] Davis info
    2. Searching for my GG grandfather. He went by David Wesley Davis, & also Wesley David Davis. I have about zero to go by, except that I know he died in Warren County, possibly 1880's, or 1890's..... which would have made him between 45 & 55...I think. Sorry for not a lot of info to go on, but that is all I have. The family story is that the woman he was living with at the time, poisoned him, leaving Warren County the next day. John Davis

    1. [KYWAR] Victor Foster
    2. I've had some small walls, but I have a giant brick wall called Victor FOSTER. I know from my mother that his name was Victor or Virgil. Stories goes that he moved around a lot and changed his name. I did find an obit with the name Victor FOSTER. I think that the birth date on the obit would be incorrect, as he would be too young for his first child. All of his wives where born in the 1890s. His first wife was born in Warren Co. Does anyone have access to the 1910 census? I would be very grateful to anyone that could see if they could find him. Or does anyone know of the FOSTER family? 1. [KYWAR] DOSS/JAMESTON families
    2. Barry Fox
    3. I am looking for information on a possible early KY marriage of these two families. My gg grandmother, Mary Ann DOSS, was born 4/5/1826 somewhere in KY. Supposedly she was the daughter of John DOSS and Jane JAMESTON who married about 1825. Along with Mary Ann, John and Jane DOSS had the following other known children: Sarah D. (born 8/19/1828 in AL) Nancy S. (born 11/1/1831 in AL) George W. (born about 1837 in AL) Since John and Jane were married in 1825 and moved to AL before 1830, they do not show on either KY census. I have researched the 1820 and 1830 KY census indexes for counties where both of these family names are found (taking into account various spellings); only three counties contain both names, Cumberland and Warren in 1820 and Hart in 1830. Does anyone have any information regarding either of these families? Thanks for your help. Barry Fox Greenville, SC

    1. [KYWAR] Newbie
    2. Sandra Ellis
    3. I have just subscribed to this list and thought I'd tell you a little about me. I am from TN and have been actively researching my heritage for about 20 years. Last year, my step-mother (of 50 years) asked if I could find out something about her Mother's family. Mammy was born in Overton Co., TN, and her parents died when she was a young child. She had no memory of her mother and only a memory of the last time she saw her Daddy. She lived with an uncle, seperated from her brothers. Last night, I received a message from a wonderful lady (Linda Hughes) that was so persistant! She just refused to let me give up! She finally made a break-through for me. I had been looking in the Overton/Clay Co., TN area. Well, she found them in Warren Co., KY, in 1900! I am so grateful for her help!! This is what I now have, from the 1900 census-- Marion Johnson was a farm laborer and they rented a home Martha was his wife and is said to have 3 children (4 are listed) William (son) Sarah (daughter)---Mammy John (son) Mary (daughter) John was 2 years old according to this census (and other records) and was born in TN. Mary, we know nothing about. She was 1 year old according to the census and born in KY. If this information is correct, this family moved to KY between June, 1898, and May, 1899--between the births of John and Mary. They were only there a short while. Martha died Feb 16, 1902, and in buried in Overton Co., TN. After the mother's death, the boys lived with their grandfather and Sarah lived with her uncle--in Overton Co. Marion returned to see the children and told them that he "had to go away", too. (Mammy remembered crying because her Daddy was dying, too.) Marion died Feb 16, 1903---one year to the day from Martha's death. No mention has ever been made of Mary. We never heard of her until last night! Did she die in Warren Co., KY? Did Marion return to Warren Co., after Martha's death? I would appreciate any help with this "mystery"! The information I have about the census says: Vol 72, ED 104, sheet 13, line 45, #239/239, Warren Co., KY, Mag. Dist. 5, Bowling Green. Thank you, Sandy Ellis

    2. Hello, I am new to the list. I am looking for information on Silas B. Larkin. He was born in 1804, possibly in Warren Co. He married Elizabeth (last name unknown).
