    1. [KYWAR] John S. Campbell obit
    2. Thana Cottrell
    3. Transcribed from a clipping with no source and a handwritten date of 1 Nov. 1891. Clipping from loose scrapbook pages found in the home of Zalame Brashear Cottrell. Likely had belonged to Mrs. Cottrell's mother, Della Campbell Brashear. Clipping in the possession of, and transcribed by Thana White Cottrell, 18 April 2001. JOHN S. CAMPBELL DEAD One of the Oldest and Best Citizens of The County Passes Away Mr. John S. Campbell died Sunday morning at his home in the Three Springs neighborhood after a lingering illness of disease incident to old age. He had been in an unconscious condition for several days and his death was not a surprise. The funeral services were conducted from the residence this morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. J. F. Redford, and the interment was in the family burying ground. Mr. Campbell was one of the oldest and best known citizens of the county and was in his 89th year. He was born in Virginia but came to Kentucky a great many years ago and was one of the pioneers of Warren county. He was always an industrious man and worthy citizen and succeeded in amassing a considerable fortune. He raised a large family of children, all of whom are now among the best citizens of our county. Mr. Campbell had long been a consistent member of the Methodist church and died in the hope of a future reward. ___________________________________________________________________________

    1. [KYWAR] Mrs John S. Campbell obit
    2. Thana Cottrell
    3. Transcribed from two undated clippings, not sourced, found in loose scrapbook pages that belonged to Della Z. (Campbell) Brashear, granddaughter of Mrs. John S. Campbell. Likely published in a Bowling Green, Warren County, KY newspaper. Loose pages from the scrapbook now in the possession of and transcribed by Thana White Cottrell. Death of Mrs. John S. Campbell Mrs. John S. Campbell, the wife of the venerable John S. Campbell, who lives in the Three Springs neighborhood, died this morning at 7:15 o'clock, aged eighty-three years, one month and eighteen days. Her funeral will be preached at her late residence to-morrow at 2 o'clock, by the Revs. J. F. Redford, of the Methodist church, and F. T. Adair, of the C. P. church. Mrs. Campbell had been a devoted and zealous member of the Methodist church from her childhood. She had been married sixty-four years at the time of her death, and was born and brought up in this county. Her maiden name was Ennis. She leaves to mourn her loss three sisters, the youngest of whom is seventy-five years of age. There were four daughters in her father's family and hers is the first death. These daughters are Mrs. Campbell, aged 83; Mrs. Peggy Dishman, aged 86; Mrs. Sallie Phelps, aged 79; and Mrs. Lizzie Breedlove, aged 75; and they all reside in this country. She leaves her immediate family three sons and four daughters, all of whom are married. She lived a consistent christian life and died in the hope of a blessed immortality. Her husband who survives her has attained the venerable age of 84 years. ________________________________________________________ Mrs. MARY CAMPBELL, wife of John S. Campbell, was born in Nelson County, Va., June 4, 1804, and departed this life July 21, 1887, at her home in Warren County, Ky. She was "born again" in 1833, and shortly after joined the Methodist Church. She was married to her now bereaved husband March 11, 1824, and they lived together sixty-three years. Her father, whose name was Ennis, moved to Kentucky when our sister was about two years old, settling first near Danville, where he remained only one year, and then came to Warren County where she remained till her death. Her health has been very precarious for several years, during which time I had the pleasure of visiting her often, and always found her ____y to talk about her hopes and prospects, ex-___ssing herself as not only ready but anxious to ___part and be with Christ. She was a good wom-__n, kind and loving to her children and neighbors, and was ever ready to welcome her ministers to her hospitable home. J. F. Redford

    1. [KYWAR] My Kentucky Home
    2. In memory of my great grandfather, Chad Wick Gott, I’d like to post a poem he wrote about his Kentucky Home. Chad was born in Warren County, KY 19th July 1875. His parents, John James Gott and Melissa Elizabeth “Lysse” Lothridge Gott, and their children moved to Crosby County, TX about 1890. Chad died in 1958 in Texas. Although Chad was not an educated man, I feel he showed his feelings very well in his poems. He left us several poems that I’m proud of. He may not have been exceptionally good at it, but his feelings were there. He was also a gifted musician that wrote songs and played the fiddle. I’d also like to dedicate this to “us” descendants that are so proud to have ancestors that “came” from Kentucky. MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME written by Chad W. Gott Ralls, TX I’m a native of Kentucky, And I feel both proud and lucky; When I think just what my heritage will be, When I think of my creation, My old home and my relation; In the Hills down near the line of Tennessee. Chorus Oh, that home of mine, That, childhood home of mine; We were seeking then a better place to know, then a move was contemplated, And the family separated; Yes the circle it was broken years ago. Could I live those old days over, Mid the bluegrass and the clover; Could I be a child again at Mother’s knee. If I only had the power, Just to be a child one hour; It would put an end to all my misery. On the bank of Barren River, Where we often played together; Brother Jack and I were always side by side, While we there in glee were playing, I can hear him, he was saying; In the old dugout canoe we’ll take a ride.

    2. Vickie Lomon
    3. Hello, I am looking for information on Elisha Chism born 1746, son of John and Elleanor Gillentine Chisum. Elisha was in Grainger county, Tn. 1799, along with Elisha Jr. and Elijah Chisum who married Lucy Clairborne. Elisha married a Winniefred Russell? Not certain about the last name, but oral history says she was a Russell. We have a will that Elisha made he called her Wenny. Wenny Chism was also in the Spring Creek Baptists church records from 1803 to 1807, with Elijah Chism and Lucy Clairborne Chism all were members there except for Wenny she was dismissed by letter in 1805. I loose this family from 1805 to 1820, where I find Elisha and Wenny in Lawrence county, Ark. which was once a part of Mo. Elisha died in 1827, children were Elisha Jr. Elleanor Nellie Chism who married John Adam Walker. Nellie was born 1792 Warren county, Kentucky, JOhn Adam Walker we have been told had a sister named Polly, she married Benajmin Chism Benjamin Chism was born 1796, birthplace unknown, we don't know if he was born Tn. or Kentucky, his father was in Tn. 1799 on the Grianger couty, Tax list. Russell Chism. Elizabeth Chism who married a Gray. so possible children are Benjamin born 1796, in which Benjamin migrates to Idependence and Izard county, Ark. along with his mother Wenny. Benjamin who married Polly Walker? Elisha Jr. Elleanor Nellie Chism who married JOhn Adam Walker Jr. Elizabeth Chism who married a Gray. Russell Chism who was born Tn. George Washington Chism who married Elizabeth Caroline Burgess, Jane Lankford and Jane Knighton. Benjamin chism had children Isham, Henderson, Washington, Thomas, James, Benjamin, Wenny and Elizabeth and one more we think by the name of Elisha who was born 1821. William Chism married Mary ? we have been told Lewallen or Glover, Possible daughter of Thomas Glover. We are not for certain. We are hopeing some one may know of these connections and where Elisha was before 1792. William Chism had son and daughters named Thomas born 1859, John Green born 1863 and Mary . Thanks Vickie

I'm trying to track Julia Ann Fuquay (Feuquay/Fewkway/Fuqua) who would have been about 25-27 and her daughter Alice Mary who was born Sept. 1859. and would have been maybe 10 months old. I think her husband (John W. Fuqua) had died or vanished and she was probably living with her parents or relatives.
