Is anyone out there researching Henry and Nancy Thompson (maiden name Thompson), married in 1837? There are present in the UC census records from 1840 through 1880. Children were: Charles born ca. 1839 Mary ca. 1840 Philip ca. 1843 Thomas ca. 1845 Julia ca. 1848 John ca. 1850 Joseph ca. 1853 Martin ca. 1856 In particular, trying to determine Henry and Nancy's parents - they are very likely cousins of a sort. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has researched them? Thanks. Patrick Thompson Bellevue, NE
Do you know anything else? Could this Thompson family have been from Marion Co., KY before going to Union Co., KY? like Henry's siblings or possibly parents? You showed 1840-1880 census ages for Henry & Nancy's children but not for Henry and Nancy - that could help. Yes, I should have included more info - sorry. Henry and Nancy Thompson (her maiden name, too) married in 1837. She is described as the daughter of Charles Thompson, and is over 21 years of age. LEO Thompson, along with Henry on the marriage bond. Leo also takes an oath as her age in a separate note. As with all census records, Nancy and Henry's ages kind of fluctuate from census to census, but Nancy's birth year appears to be circa 1815. Henry's age is about the same, circa 1815. Nancy lives up to at least the 1880 census; Henry apparently dies in 1864 (I found estate settlement records for him that year). In another marriage, for Mary Jane Thompson to George Girten in 1843, Henry Thompson is listed as the second bondsman. It does not describe her as "daughter of Charles" but I suspect she and Nancy are sisters, and my ancestor John Thompson (1826-1907) may be their brother. I also suspect the inclusion of Henry and Leo in these marriages implies they, too, are related to the others in some way. This is why I am trying to learn more about Henry. Thanks, and sorry for the oversight. I just got done deleting a bunch of these Thompson emails then I thought, ya know I better look. Now this is so minor but...... I have a Mary H. Thompson who married a Henry Flavel Rice. I have no info on her or their marriage. Henry was born abt. 1813. His parents were James Harvey Rice and Ann Rice, cousins who m. in 1806 in Washington Co. KY. Their daughter and Henry Flavel Rice's sister and my 3x grandmother Calia Rice was born in Livingston Co. KY and they ended up in White Co. IL however her husband Rawleigh Chinn Wilson had brother and sister who moved from Va to Union Co KY and there was a large family connected by the last name of BLUE. I just threw that out there because any little tidbit of a name and location can open a brickwall. If you need anything just ask.
