To all my friends on these lists I have just completed a major revision to my Drury web site. This is the first in 10 years and includes much of my recent research. If you'd like to check it out the URL is: http://freepages.geneakogy.rootsweb.ancestry,com/~dwdrury Don Drury
Hello to all, I’m introducing a new book about the Brewer families of Maryland and their descendants in Kentucky and Missouri. I begin by discussing the circumstances leading to the colonization of Maryland. I then return to England to try to discover the Brewer families in England who came to America. I follow these families as they come to America and eventually settle in Maryland and beyond. This is more than just a family history. Their lives and those of their descendants are examined in relation to the economic, political, and military events that helped to shape them. This book explores the lives of some of these Brewer families in Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri including numerous illustrations. Though including descendant lists and typical genealogical data, it also attempts to place these people in a historical context detailing some of their achievements, an idea of how they lived, and the rigors of Colonial life. It is reasonably priced at $28.00 plus shipping and handling through Colonial roots at their website <www.colonialroots.com> or through Amazon.com Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I hope you will be interested enough to purchase a copy. Regards to all, Don Drury
Hello Everyone, I've just received word that the book I've written about the Drury families in Maryland is now available. It tells about their lives and the associated families into which they married. It follows some of their descendants as they moved west into Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri. The narrative tries to give some idea of what their lives were like, how they lived and how historical events affected their lives. Copies are available at www.shop.colonialroots.com now in the New Books section and will also shortly be available on Amazon.com. To place an order, you can use the website, phone in (302-644-2798) or email ([email protected]). The book is about 240 pages and is reasonably priced at $30.00. I hope this will be of interest. Betty, my Goughs traveled from St. Mary's with Raleys and the other Maryland Catholics. My Goughs were in Union County until 1928. My Burches traveled to Fancy Farm and my nephew and nieces are descended from Fancy Farm Haydens. I am not directly related to the Raleys however we are all multiple cousins. I have a Cralle/Crawley cousin who is a Raley. I guess that is how I started collecting Raley information. I show James Jefferson Raley and John Basil Raley III to be brothers not father and son. 1 John "Basil" Raley Jr. (1791 - 1835) b: 15 May 1791 in Leonardtown, St. Mary's County, Maryland, d: 09 Jul 1835 in Union Co., KY ...... + Elizabeth Spaulding (1792 - 1844) b: 10 Mar 1792 in Washington County, Kentucky, m: 25 Jan 1811 in Washington County, KY, d: 10 Mar 1844 in Union County, KY ............2 Francis "Frank" Raley ............+ Susan Ann Raley m: 27 Apr 1852 ............2 Male Raley (between 1800 and 1820 - ) b: Bet. 1800–1820 in Marion County, KY ............2 Male Raley (between 1800 and 1820 - ) b: Bet. 1800–1820 in Marion County, KY ............2 Male Raley (between 1800 and 1820 - ) b: Bet. 1800–1820 in Marion County, KY ............2 Mary Anna Raley (about 1812 - ) b: Abt. 29 Mar 1812 in Marion County, KY ............+ Thomas Austin m: 16 Jul 1836 in Union County, KY ............2 James Jefferson Raley (about 1813 - 1875) b: Abt. 05 Dec 1813 in Calvary, Marion County, Kentucky, d: 08 Jan 1875 in Union County, KY ............ + Matilda Mills (1818 - 1870) b: 21 Jan 1818 in Maryland, m: 22 Aug 1837 in Union Co., KY, d: 1870 in Union County, KY ............2 John Basil Raley III (about 1818 - after 1880) b: Abt. 15 Mar 1818 in Marion County, KY, d: Aft. 1880 ............ + Amanda Frances Belt (about 1826 - after 1880) b: Abt. 1826 in Kentucky, m: 18 Apr 1842 in Union County, KY, d: Aft. 1880 ............2 Male Raley (between 1820 and 1830 - ) b: Bet. 1820–1830 in Marion County, KY ............2 Male Raley (between 1820 and 1830 - ) b: Bet. 1820–1830 in Marion County, KY ............2 Male Raley (between 1820 and 1830 - ) b: Bet. 1820–1830 in Marion County, KY ............2 Benedict Joseph Raley (about 1829 - ) b: Abt. 08 Jun 1829 in Marion County, KY ............2 Female Raley (between 1830 and 1840 - ) b: Bet. 1830–1840 in Marion or Union Counties, KY ............2 Male Raley (between 1830 and 1840 - ) b: Bet. 1830–1840 in Marion or Union Counties, KY ............2 Louisa Raley (about 1832 - ) b: Abt. 22 Jan 1832 in Marion County, KY ............2 Matilda Catherine Raley (1874 - ) b: 26 Feb 1874 in Union County, KY ............+ Ulysses Grant "Parker" Wooten ............+ Charles Mattingly m: 20 Apr 1841 in Union County, KY Mike On 2/23/2013 5:02 PM, [email protected] wrote: > Hi Mike, > My lineage first is from St. Marys' County, Maryland > John Basil Raley Sr.-Dorothy Hutchins > John Basil Raley-Elizabeth Spalding > John Basil Raley III- Amanda Frances Belt > James Jefferson Raley-Matilda Mills > James Alexius Raley-Ellen Frances Raley(first cousins married)Ellen Frances Raley daughter to John and Amanda married James Alexius son of James Jefferson and Matilda Mills. > From the unioon of James and Ellen is my grandma Catherine Matilda Raley who married my grandpa Ulysses Grant "Parker" Wooten of Fancy Farm (Graves County) Ky. > What part of this if any is your lineage? > I was interested in knowing if maybe anyone or maybe the genealogy society had a collection of this family(history, photos etc.). Hi Folks, Just a note to let you know that Remember the Drurys Vol II is now available for purchase. This second volume treats mainly descendants of John Drury who married Susanna Hayden in 1734 and those of his brother Peter Drury who married Jane Bailey probably about 1735. These families are traced not only through Maryland, but also through Kentucky and eventually to Missouri. It also has sections on other Drury lines and some collateral branches. Pat Obrist is handling all orders and shipping unless you want to pay the more expensive retail price through Amazon or direct from the publisher Xlibris. Please contact her directly for prices. It is our understanding that the cost has increased in the three years since the first volume became available. Contact Pat via E-mail at <Patricia Obrist @gmail.com> or by postal mail at: Patricia Bishop Obrist 1508 Rosedale Drive O'Fallon, MO 63366-1155
