I just got done deleting a bunch of these Thompson emails then I thought, ya know I better look. Now this is so minor but...... I have a Mary H. Thompson who married a Henry Flavel Rice. I have no info on her or their marriage. Henry was born abt. 1813. His parents were James Harvey Rice and Ann Rice, cousins who m. in 1806 in Washington Co. KY. Their daughter and Henry Flavel Rice's sister and my 3x grandmother Calia Rice was born in Livingston Co. KY and they ended up in White Co. IL however her husband Rawleigh Chinn Wilson had brother and sister who moved from Va to Union Co KY and there was a large family connected by the last name of BLUE. I just threw that out there because any little tidbit of a name and location can open a brickwall. If you need anything just ask. Yes, I should have included more info - sorry. Henry and Nancy Thompson (her maiden name, too) married in 1837. She is described as the daughter of Charles Thompson, and is over 21 years of age. LEO Thompson, along with Henry on the marriage bond. Leo also takes an oath as her age in a separate note. As with all census records, Nancy and Henry's ages kind of fluctuate from census to census, but Nancy's birth year appears to be circa 1815. Henry's age is about the same, circa 1815. Nancy lives up to at least the 1880 census; Henry apparently dies in 1864 (I found estate settlement records for him that year). In another marriage, for Mary Jane Thompson to George Girten in 1843, Henry Thompson is listed as the second bondsman. It does not describe her as "daughter of Charles" but I suspect she and Nancy are sisters, and my ancestor John Thompson (1826-1907) may be their brother. I also suspect the inclusion of Henry and Leo in these marriages implies they, too, are related to the others in some way. This is why I am trying to learn more about Henry. Thanks, and sorry for the oversight. I don't live in Kentucky, so can't help with record research. My direct line is BRIGHT (Mary Bright married Charles Girten) so I trace Girtens. Mary was the daughter of John Anselm and Theresa/Teresa (Cissell) Bright. I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR BRIGHTS & CISSELLS!!! Here are a few notes I have on the information posted: Mary Jane married George W. Girten on January 27, 1843. He died 1847. (she was 21) I have that Mary Jane Thompson married Charles Henry Girten August 27, 1851. (she was 29) - no source for the Thompson information. Mary Jane was born August 1822, Marion Co., KY, and died October 29, 1900. She may have married a Hendricks as well as a Thompson... Of course, George W. & Charles Henry Girten were brothers - sons of John and Mary Ann (Barrons) Girten. I have lots of Girten information if anyone is interested. PS: I trace a lot of the Catholics who came from Maryland through Kentucky into Missouri. I love to share and discuss these families. Hi Patrick, I have a few Union Co. KY. books in my genealogy collection which were compiled by Mr. Peyton Heady of Morganfield, Union Co. KY. My husband and I met Mr. Heady many years ago in Morganfield. I purchased several of his books & at that time I asked Mr. Heady if I could share some of the information in his books & he graciously agreed. I searched the book "Union County, Kentucky Marriage Books 1811-1853, Marriage Book AA - 1811-1837 & Marriage book BB - 1838-1853 " Compiled by Peyton Heady, Copyright 1987. The book indexes & the book records sometimes seem to be skewed but I am typing them exactly as the text appears. The spelling of surnames & the middle names & initials are not consistent in some cases. Book BB, Index: 1850. GOUGH, Mary Jane, widow of George GIRTEN. see HENDRIECKS.M.J. Record: 27 Jan. 1843: GIRTEN, George - Mrs. Mary Ann HENDRICKS Index: 1851. GIRTIN, Charles H. Record: 27 Aug. 1851: GIRTEN, Charles W. - GIRTEN, Mary Jane, widow of George GIRTEN. Index: 1846. GIRTEN, Mrs. Mary Ann, widow of John D. GIRTEN Record: 08 Jan. 1846: WELDEN, James - Mary Ann GIRTEN, widow of John GIRTEN I have listed the additional GIRTIN/GIRTEN marriage records that are included in the book. I thought they might be helpful to you. Book AA, Record: 09 Nov. 1818: GIRTEN, John - Ann BARRON " 22 Aug. 1826: GIRTEN, Elisha - Mary M. OARD " 01 Oct. 1827: BLANDFORD, Ignatius - Annistatacia GIRTEN " 31 Jan. 1828: ROBB, John - Polly GIRTEN " 16 Nov.1830: GIRTEN. James - Jane PURSELL " 02 Aug.1831: GIRTEN, Charles - Mary BRIGHT Book BB, Record: 14 Jan. 1841: HENDRIZ, Elisha - Susannah GORTEN (sp.?) " 09 Aug.1846: RYAN, John - Rose Ann GIRTEN, daughter of John GIRTEN " 09 Feb. 1850: COOMES, Charles - Priscilla Jane GIRTEN, daughter of John GIRTEN. I hope the information will be useful to you. If I can be of further help please just ask.
