    1. [KYTRIMBLE] Another Connell researcher
    2. Hi all - I have recently been corresponding with Colleen Wilkes who has an interest in Jesse Connell descendants, in particular, William Connell, Jesse's son. I am posting here her recent letter to me: I am looking for the death date for William Connell, born 1776, son of Jesse Connell, born 1747, and Nancy Ann Lawson, born 1753. My problem is that I find a William Connell, born 1796, who married Polly Smith, and is shown to be a son of Jesse Connell and Nancy Ann Lawson. I am confused. Could William 1776 have died and a later child be named William also? Thanks Colleen Wilkes, YBHW@aol.com I have since added Colleen to our list so she should be getting this note - I have also updated her on all the recent correspondence we have had on the Connells and related families. If you are able to answer her question above, please answer to the list so we all know! Best wishes to all, Maggie Fallone

He died 15 August, 1826 in Trimble Co, KY. His tombstone states that he was 97 years old, and is laid to rest in the Corn Creek Cemetery of the Corn Creek Baptist Church. 3. Hi List, I am thinking these two men are one and the same. I also think the Dept. of Army made a mistake in the middle initial. This would explain why my husband's grandmother was researching William Pryor. He would have been her uncle, brother of Samuel P. Pryor and s/o George Woodford Pryor and Mary Connell. Here is the information from Ancestry Civil War Records and Dept. of the Army, Washington, DC. What do you all think? One and the Same? Ancestry: Residence: Service Record: William C. Pryor (This was found under the search for William Connell Pryor) Enlisted as a Private on 10 September 1862 in Trimble County, KY Enlisted in Company A, 4th Cavalry Regiment Kentucky on 10 September 1862 Sources: Confederate Kentucky Volunteers War 1861-65. (KYRosterC) Published in 1915 Dept of the Army Washington DC 4 May 1948 "The Records show that William Pryor, name also found as William M. Pryor, a private of Company A, 4th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate States Army, enlisted 10 September 1862 in Trimble County, Kentucky." (There is more to this letter but the important info is written above.) Sue in Florida macduff@infi.net

    3. Hi Sue: Yes, I knew the Duncan's came from Culpeper Co., VA. William Duncan came to Orange (later Culpeper) ca 1720. married Ruth Rawleigh, and had several children. The youngest son was my James Duncan that married Asenath (Sena) Their son, William was b. in Culpeper, as well as all of the children in his generation, and all the children in his dad's generation as well. You mentioned finding info on familysearch.com. Is that where you have to become a member before you can browse through it. I have ancestry.com where I am a member, but never have time to really get down and find much. Occasionally, I do go through a few census', and that's really good. I researched for many years, and now I'm trying to get all of my research into FTM, and that has been more demanding and time consuming than I ever dreamed it would be. I'd much rather be researching. I sure do appreciate all the good info you sent on the Pryor family. I'm curious as to which of the Connell men was her father. I think I do have names of some of the next generation, but I can't say for sure. I'm working on another family, and that is taking full time....that, and e-mail, and great grandkids. Did your grandmother leave any of William m. Pryor's records that she rec'd from Nation Archives, or would you have to go back and reorder them. That is probably the only way you'll find out about him, I thought of a possible way. If you are confident that he was in Kentucky, there should be some books on the men that enlisted, volunteered from Kentucky and find out that way if he was from Trimble, or some other county in Kentucky. Is there a website for Pryor families. I imagine there is. I belong to several for Duncan, Douglass, Robertson, plus others. I've had good luck by joining them and putting queries in for who I'm looking for. Thank you so very much. 3. Hi Georgia, When I did some searching late last evening on familysearch, I found Culpepper as the place of birth for the Duncan family. It was late so I have not looked for any films available. I will have to wait a bit on that. I am trying to scan all the documents I do have into my FTM. I have procrastinated and it has taken me several days to get all the documents together. I have also run into a few questions, such as on William M. 3. Hi: I sent a reply to Susan Jones and Jeff Wright. In that e-mail, I stated: "Capt. Jack Pryor married Sallie Duncan in ca 1805 in either Henry Co. or Gallatin Co., KY." Also, James Duncan, son of James and Asenith Browning Duncan married two daughters of Samuel Duncan.....which should be Samuel PRYOR. His daughters were 1st, Lucy Pryor, and after her death, 2nd Catherine Pryor. James Duncan died ca 1814, leaving a will, and Samuel Pryor also died about that time, also leaving a will.
