Jemima was remarried by 1880, so it is assumed that Thomas had passed away by then. [note: according to another researcher, K.S. Cabler, in the 1860 census record for Washington Co., MO, page 483, dwelling number 998 shows Thomas Joiner ,age 34, born KY, and son Thomas Joiner age 11, born KY, wife Nancy, age 32, born KY, and son Surrilla Ezell, age 20, born KY. Dwelling 1000 is M.G. Ezell, age 28, born KY, Polly Ezell, age 21, born TN, William W. Ezell, age 9, born KY, Thomas Ezell, age 5, born KY, and nancy Ezell, age 1, born MO. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHO ALL THESE EZELL'S ARE? >> The above Thomas Joiner married 1st Nancy EZELL (daughter of Hansel and Hester EZELL). I did not know that he was married twice. The M.G EZELL mentioned above was Murrell Green EZELL, Nancy EZELL's brother. He married Mary Ann "Polly" HOPKINS. Their brother William J. EZELL married Surrilla PITMAN. That is where the Surrilla name came from. Are you sure that the Surrilla Ezell JOINER was a male? Marvin
