I am looking for the Smith and Whitney families of Trigg Co. Merela or Merelda Whitney was born in 1822. She had a brother Wayman C Whitney, who lived in Cadiz, in the 1850's and may have gone to Christian Co in 1856. She married John Smith and had children, George W., Emma (b 1848 in Trigg Co.), John R. and Warfman Smith. They moved to Wayne Co. Mo. sometime in the middle 1850's. She died in Chillicothe, Mo. in 1870. She was married to Soloman Bergdoll at that time. Other names I have are brother and sister, Prior Whitney, and Emily who died in 1855. I also have an Archibald Cooper who was married to her late sister, but I have no name for her. The only thing we know of John Smith is that he had family in Christian Co. James Smith had a tanyard east of Hopkinsville, Ky in 1853. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Beverly
