Thomas L. HARDIE (HARDY) was born in 1796, the son of Rev. Thomas HARDIE and Sarah FEATHERSTONE. Rev. HARDIE died and his wife Sarah, son Thomas, and Sarah's parents moved to Smith Co. TN. Thomas L. HARDIE married and had about 10 children in Smith/Macon Co. His wife died between 1846 and 1850. The family moved to Montgomery Co. TN. about 1852. They are listed on the 1860 Montgomery Co. census They are listed on the 1870 Stewart Co census They are listed on the 1880 Trigg Co, KY census Please look at these names to see if you recognize any of these children's names: Children of Thomas L. HARDIE (HARDY) and unknown wife: 1) John A. HARDIE (HARDEY) b1824 married Martha T. ?? in Macon Co. They are in the 1860 Mont. Co census and in the 1870 Weakley co census 2) Elizabeth HARDIE b1826 3) Mary Jane HARDIE b1827 married Michael W. SHRADER in Montgomery Co, but moved to Trigg Co. KY, living near Lineport Road. 4) Thomas H. HARDIE b1830 bought his father's land in Montgomery Co. and is listed as head of the family there in 1860 (including father on the census) 5) Susan HARDIE b1832 6) Tabitha (Leathie) HARDIE b 1834 7) Malinda HARDIE b1836 8) William H. H. HARDIE b 1840 is listed as the head of the family in the 1870 census of Stewart Co (including father, age 74, in the census); he is listed as head of the family in the 1880 census of Trigg Co., KY (including father, age 84) 9) Lucy HARDIE b 1841 married ??Young WILSON?? 10) Amanda (Mandie) HARDIE b1846 married ??P. A. CASTEEL?? I cannot confirm the marriages above to be mine yet. I only know that "a" Lucy Hardy married Young Wilson in Montgomery Co in 1861. And "a" Mandie Hardy married P. A. Casteel in 1888. At least part of this family was active in the "Campbellite" movement of the area. Perhaps folks in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, or Church of Christ will recognize these names. I welcome corrections and additions to the HARDIE family. I know there was at least one other HARDIE family in Trigg Co. We cannot find a connection between the two and maybe three families that lived in the area during the 1800s. Thanks for reading this. Hope you recognize something and can help me. Ida Deal
