She is listed is some of the old birth and death records as Elmira McCoy being her maiden name and Andrew Armstrong as the father. I have seen these files at the Trigg County Library, in the Genealogy section. We are still working to prove the Andrew Armstrong line. There had been several errors made in some very early research on him and because of that, it took a lot of people in the wrong directions. I suspect that Elmira actually came from one of the McCoy Families that settled in Stewart County, TN before she was ever married to Andrew. One deed filed in Trigg County, KY states that Elmira was from Christian County, KY before the dealing in the property. I also know that Trigg County, was also a part of Christian County prior to the property records. Good luck and if there is anything else that we can help you with, please feel free to ask.
