    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: SHAW Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hBB.2ACE/843 Message Board Post: For a very long time, I have been searching for the parents, grandparents, siblings of my great, great, great grandfather, ZACHARIAH SHAW without much success.. Zacharish was born in VA about 1806 (the date extrapolated from the 1850 US Census for Trigg Co.). In the census report he is shown living with wife Sarah, b. in TN, and a number of children born in KY, IL, TN. The oldest child, NANCY C. SHAW was born in KY about 1832 and his last child shown in 1855. Zachariah's occupation is shown as SB Pilot (SB meaning SteamBoat???). Family data - which has proven inaccurate in the past - is that he died of yellow fever in New Orleans -- perhaps on a job related run to New Orleans. Zachariah never appears again in a any census reports I have been able to locate. Sarah, his wife, and a number of their children are listed in the Livingston Co., KY Censuses for 1860 and 1870. Sarah, a widow, and three adult children are living in Louisville in 1880. In 1890, Sarah is shown as living with a son, William, also a pilot, in Paducah, McCracken, KY. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    1. [KYTRIGG] Earlington High School scrapbook 1921-22 school year
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hBB.2ACE/842 Message Board Post: If you have any relatives who attended the old Earlington High School (in Hopkins County, south of Madisonville) back in the early 1920's you might want to check out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=735419390 There, you can bid on a very intriguing and very detailed scrapbook that was filled out Virginia Newton, who apparently was a freshman that year. The scrapbook has several photos (each about 3" x 3"), including a photo of the school plus several photos of various classmates. The scrapbook also lists many of the class officers, has info about several teachers, lists the scores of the football and basketball games from that school year, and even has a couple of original tickets from the ball games and even a copy of the programs from the class programs. If you know of anyone who attended Earlington High School, especially back in the 1920's, this is definitely an item to be checked out.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Barnes Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hBB.2ACE/839 Message Board Post: I have this in my data.. there is more if anyone is interested. I have Solomon W. Barnes listed as the son of John Barnes d: about 1718 & Ann unknown. Siblings listed are John and Sarah. That's all I have on them. If anyone has more information on this family I would like to correspond with them. Solomon W. Barnes, who lived some four miles west of Cadiz, and near the Mount Pleasant Church, was a good man. He was not related to the Rev. Joseph Barnes, though was a leading member of the same Church. He was one of the earliest settler of that section, coming I think from South Carolina and settling there long before Trigg county was organized. He was I think one amongst the best men I ever knew. He was a small man with a pleasing countenance, and was seemingly the embodiment of goodness, was a plain, meek, modest, quiet Christian. He was a small farmer, without much education, and dressed very plainly. It was said that he was one of the few who made his promise good amongst, or out of, the large number who promised God that if he would spare their lives at the time of the terrible earthquake in 1812 that they would thereafter love and serve him.

Surnames: Barnes Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hBB.2ACE/93.454.1 Message Board Post: I am looking for a William Carroll Barnes, born Dec. 23, 1830, in S.W. Tennessee. He died Jan 6, 1886 in Healdton, Oklahoma. There may have been three children born before the Civil War. William, Carroll and Mary. He later married Sarah "Sally" Ann Page of Illinois. Their first child John Wright Barnes was born to them June 22 1868 in Hardin Co. Tenn. I am looking for a connection with William, Carroll and Mary Barnes. William C. moved his family from Tenn. to Ewing Co. Ill, then to Montague Co. Texas and later to Oklahoma. There were two other boys and several sisters that came to Oklahoma. There is a family story; "One of the boys was traveling with the family but turned back at the river. Probably the Mississippi." I would like to know if there are descendants of either William or Carroll Barnes turning back at the river? If so I would like to hear from you.
