>> from Weaver, Ky or Weaver, SC. << Are you certain about the 'Weaver'? It would be extremely rare - almost to non-existence - for a census taker to write down the name of a city of county. They were only instructed to write the state or country of birth. This said - I did see one district (not in Trigg) on one of the censuses on which the census taker wrote the county and state of birth for everyone not born in his own county. ....BettyC
There is a Weaver in Sullivan County, Tennessee, near Bristol. There is also a Weaver in North Carolina, just north of Durham. The next closest is in Clark County, Illinois. Those are the best I can find on today's maps in the general areas of the Carolinas and Kentucky. FROM ANOTHER SITE........... Hi guys...I saw something on tv yesterday that might benefit all of us who spend long hours sitting in front of a computer monitor. The advice was actually given for quilters but when you think about it, quilting and computing require similar muscles <grin>. The show was "Simply Quilts" on HGTV and the episode name was "Ergonomic Quilting". The doctor giving the advice was also a quilter. She says take a ten-minute break every hour without fail. Get up - walk around and stretch. When you are sitting, here are a couple of good exercises to relax you; she called them "yes, no & maybe", which makes them easy to remember. The "yes" exercise is fully nodding your head up and down slowly. The "no" exercise is - you got it! - fully nodding your head back and forth slowly. And the maybe exercise is like shrugging - hunch your shoulders to the bottom of your ears and then just let them "flop" back to a natural position. Three reps for each exercise. You won't believe how much better this will make you feel. Another tip - keep those books you refer to often across the room - which will *force* you to get up now and then. I like mine at my fingertips, which probably saves me time but costs me in the long run. The doctor also said by the time you are 70 years old, you need at least 50% more light to work than you did when you were 30. And I'm not exactly sure about that - it may have been 100% - at any rate, I was astounded and this is something we all need to think about as we get older. Save those eyes as much as possible! I don't plan to make a habit of sending things like this to the list but I thought it might benefit all of us. Permission is given to forward if you think this is worthy advice. I'm forwarding it to my county mailing list. My gg-grandmother Catherine Wilb*rn was a much married lady. I keep hoping to run into a fellow descendant, but so far, no luck. Having recently found two new children and a possible brother, I thought I'd post again. Catherine Wilb*rn was born about 1826, probably in Indiana (possibly Perry County). She was a daughter of Isaac G. Wilb*rn (b. c. 1792 in North Carolina) and Sarah (--?--), (b. c. 1797 in NC). There may be two older sisters - no names so far. There are two known younger brothers, John (c. 1831) and William (c. 1833). The possible brother is Isaac Y. Wilb*rn, no dates yet. On 11 May 1848 Catherine married Jonas B. MEADOWS in Obion Co, TN. He died in Jan 1850. There were two sons of this marriage: 1) Joseph Wilburn MEADOWS, b. 24 Feb 1849 in Obion Co, TN 2) Jonas MEADOWS, b. Aug 1850 in Obion Co, TN On 17 Nov 1852 Catherine married Greenwood (or Green W.) PARKER in Obion Co., TN. He died in the first half of 1860. There were (at least) two sons of this marriage also: 3) Isaac Q (or Y) PARKER, b about 1854 in (Obion Co) Tennessee 4) John PARKER, b. about 1859 in (Obion Co) Tennessee On 9 Nov 1863 Catherine married Nathan T. OLIVER in Trigg Co, KY. I don't have a death record for him. There were two children of this marriage: 5) Sarah E. OLIVER, b about 1866 in (Trigg Co) Kentucky 6) Andrew T. OLIVER, b about 1868 in (Trigg Co) Kentucky In the 1850 census Catherine with sons Joseph W. and Jonas are enumerated with her father in District 4, Obion Co, TN I haven't found her in the 1860 census yet. In the 1870 census of Bethesda Precinct, Trigg Co, KY, the Nathan OLIVER household includes Catherine, Isaac Q PARKER, John PARKER, Sarah E. OLIVER, and Andrew T. OLIVER. Joseph W. MEADOWS is a few lines up the same page with his first wife, Margaret Jane OLIVER. I haven't found Jonas MEADOWS yet. In the 1880 census of Bethesda District #2, Trigg Co, KY, the Nathan OLIVER houshold includes Catherine, Sarah E., and Andrew T. Joseph W. MEADOWS and second wife Belle HARRELL are in Bethesda District #3, Trigg Co., KY. I haven't found Jonas MEADOWS, Isaac Q. PARKER, or John PARKER yet. No 1890 census... I don't have access to an index for 1900... Among the variant spellings I've found all the usual Wilb*rn suspects, Melb*rn, and Hilb*rn, all with and without a final "e". Anybody recognize any of these people? ===== Marsha L. Ensminger searching for Westerhold/t/z in the US and ? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I'm hoping someone can help me sort out Wesley Pryor's first marriage and children. Wesley was born ca 1811 in TN (I found one person saying Bourbon Co KY but no proof) and married sometime in ca 1834-6 based upon 1840 Trigg Co Census with two males born 0-5y (names unknown). To this union was born Possibly a Sarah J. Pryor (listed in 1850 Trigg Co KY census @ 15y, but she should have been shown in the 1840 census and is not according to the book I have with the census listing so she but could also be a niece)? and possibly Frances Adaline Pryor. Wesley's first wife passed away before 4 Aug 1847 when he married Frances Elliott, dau of Jonathan Elliott (My connection). I found a marriage for a John Pryor to a Elizabeth Davis, 17 Mar 1836 in Calloway Co KY, could this possibly be Wesley's first marriage? Could his name possibly be John Wesley Pryor? He did have a son by the name of John Wesley by Frances Elliott, 23 May 1852. Another question is in regards to dau Frances Adaline who sometimes is shown born 1847 (marriage to Frances Elliott?) and other times shown born 1844 (Marriage to first wife ?). The 1870, 1900 census and the cemetery record has 1844. The 1850, 1860 shows 1847. The difference would make the difference who the mother was. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will you please check and see if there is a birth for a Carrie Eugenia Ferguson born 1885, June I think, parents Lorenzo Dow Ferguson, and Mary Ann Webb Ferguson. From what I have gathered she was born in Empire Ky, which may have been in Trigg Co at one time, on the Christian Co line or there were two Empire Kys. Also, are there any death records for the time period of 1880 to 1900? Isaac D.Ferguson , same parents as above? Thank you for your time. Claudia J.Williams
