I've got a line of Comptons in my tree too, beginning with Joseph Compton b. 5-20-1872 - 9-6-1912 in Trigg Co. KY. His father was Issac, but I have no dates listed for him. I don't have a Gipson though, do you know of a connection? Jennifer Berkley Antrim
I am only related by his second marriage. Eliza Ruth was my 3rd great grandmother. I am trying to locate her children. But will exchange what I have have. I don't have a Mary Florence, I have a Mildred Florence, a Mary Ann and a Ada Florence belonging to Gibson and Victoria. Help me sort this out. There are still some close relations that live here and around Murray. I have one photograph of Victoria Florence Jones Compton, Gipson's 3rd wife. I also have a photo of Victoria Florence and her daughter Mary Florence. By the way, Mary Florence married August Killius and I have recently found their son, Glenn, who is 80 years old and have started corresponding with him. I have another old photograph which I think is Gipson and Victoria and six children, but it is really faded. I am going to take it to a photo restorer. If it can be restored, it will be a truly remarkable photograph of Gipson's family.

Surnames: Steele, Bozarth, Morgan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hBB.2ACE/1013 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on Andrew Steele and John Steele of White County TN. Andrew and John are in the 1820 census of White County. They are living very close to Levi Bozarth and family and he related Pierce family. Andrew is above 45 so he was born before 1775. I descend from his son Nathaniel G Steele who was born around 1804. Nathaniel Steele married Elizabeth Bozarth the daughter of his neighbor Levi Bozarth. Levi was married to Sarah Pierce b 1776 in Spartanburg South Carolina, who was supposed to be full blooded Cherokee. Levi and Sarah were married in Hardin County KY in 1802. I do not know much about Andrew Steele or who he married. Some have speculated that he is the son of Andrew Steele Sr. and Martha Buchanan but I have seen so much conflicting information. John Steele who was living next to Andrew Steele in 1820 was between 26 and 45 and I am assuming he is either a son or a younger brother. His oldest so was between 10 and 16 so the odds are that he is Andrew's son. Does anyone have any information on this family? In 1850 Nathaniel Steele and Elizabeth Bozarth were in Sumner County Tennesse. They had children William 1824 Levi 1830 Mary 1827 Joseph 1831 James 1833 Andrew 1836 Nathaniel 1838 Malinda 1840 John 1844 Nancy 1844 Ellen 1847 This family all but disappears after this census. William and Levi went to Christian Co Ky. and were in Trigg County KT by 1870. Mary married Greel L Clark and went to Butler Co Ky. Her sister Ellen lived with her in 1860. I have no idea what happened tothe rest of them after that that. Nathaniel and Elizabeth and there remaining 7 children seem to just disappear. does anyone have any info on them Thanks Cass Johnson
I am very interested in the obituary you posted for W.T. King. I believe that he was my great grandfather or my g g grandfather. Both were named W. T. King but by the date of death it seems it was g grandfather. At any rate, my mother never mentioned her fathers family and this could be the reason. I wonder how I could get more information, such as the surviving family members. Wife, children etc,. All I have is that both of my grandfathers parents died within a few months of each other, but no details until now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Frances Tolsma
Dear Dot: I saw the previous query posted to the list about the Trigg County deaths book and was wondering if you might be able to look up something for me. I have been searching for the death date and burial place of my great great grandmother Susan Carloss Butcher. She was the daughter of William Carloss and Francis Ann Garnett. Susan was born in Trigg County Ky. in 1852. She was listed living with her husband and children on the 1880 census for Christian County. Her husband William Edgar Butcher remarried to Ada V. Colley in 1889 in Graves Co. KY. I have looked for Susan in all three counties in KY. but have never been able to find out when she died or where she was buried. If anyone can look in whatever books they have I would really appreciate it. Thank You! Catherine

Dot, Thanks for taking the time to provide so much information in your reply. Although her death was not listed in the Trigg County Vital Statistics book, some of the other information you provided is very useful to me, particularly the marriage details, which document her age and place of birth. Thanks again for your reply and the information. I am new to the list and am hoping that someone on the list will be able to help me. Do any of you have a copy of, or access to, the book "Trigg County Kentucky, vital statistics: marriages 1874-1910; deaths 1861 plus 1874-1910", authored by Barbara Smith, published by Simmons Historical in 1998. I am trying to confirm the reported date of death of my g-g-grandmother Ann Maria Pettypool (or Pool). She supposedly died on June 6 or 8, 1897 in Cadiz, Trigg County. She was the wife of Bedford Pettypool. I don't have a date of death on Bedford, but I think he died prior to 1870. I would very much appreciate anything that can be provided regarding the date of death and burial location for Ann Maria Pettypool (or any other related information). Thanks, Howard McGhee hemskm@earthlink.net
Hi Listers I am posting this to answer a question about a persons family member who was not listed on Rootsweb Soc. Sec. death index. And also how to find the "REAL" Soc. Sec death index... Soc. Sec. Admin. does not list a "REAL" death index online!!! They sell tapes to commercial firms. Rootsweb is considered a commercial firm.. The home page for Social Security is www.socialsecurity.gov/ Ken Gilkey ************ The following is from the Social Security Website.......... There are many web sites that offer free searches of the Social Security death index. However, these are all commercial web sites and our policy generally prohibits providing a link to or recommending a commercial web site as we cannot endorse or appear to endorse any commercial products or services. Also, SSA cannot vouch that the information that they offer online is up-to-date. To find a web site that provides the death index, we recommend that you use one of the common web search sites that are available and type in "death index". Your search should provide several sources where you can view the death index free of charge. The Death Index contains a listing of "most" people who had a Social Security number and who are deceased, and whose death was reported to the Social Security Administration. If you find a person in the Death Index you will learn the date of birth and Social Security number for that person. ********************************************************************* \\\|/// \\ ~ ~ // ( @ @ ) ----oOOo-(_)-oOOo----McGillekehr ********************************************************************** *****Your kygenweb homepages are***** CALDWELL http://home.hiwaay.net/~woliver/caldwell.html LYON http://home.hiwaay.net/~woliver/lyon.html TRIGG http://www.kyseeker.com/trigg/index.html **********************************************************************

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hBB.2ACE/630.1.2.2.1 Message Board Post: Hi Yvonne, Wish I had lots of information about the Flynn family, but I don't. Will tell you someone who may be able to help you. Mrs Frances (Flynn) Gresham who is the daughter of Bill & Laura (Miller) Flynn. She is listed in the Hopkinsville phone book & address is: 302 Indian Trail. I bet she would love to talk to you about her family. Laura (Miller) Flynn was my great aunt & I barely remember her. The last time I saw her was some years ago when I went to the nursing home where she was staying. Took her sister, Pat (Miller) Cox there for a visit. Aunt Laura didn't remember who I was, but recognized her sister after a while. She was 96 or 97 years old at the time. Uncle Jim - James David Miller, was my great uncle. I'm excited that you are researching his family for his daughter. Which daughter are you helping? I have a few things on the Blakeley, Bryant, & Miller families, but it was given to me by a cousin, Pearlie Mae Hancock, & she said some of the information came from Uncle Jim's family. So what I have is probably what you already have. My Dad was Elbert Harvey Mitchell. He was born in Cadiz in 1923 to Ogman Amos & Virginia (Miller) Mitchell. Daddy is gone now & I'd give anything to have been more interested in family history research while he was still with us. I have an old picture album of Daddy's that I have copied pictures out of & sent to Amos & Dorothy (Miller) Ladd to see if they could identify some of the people in them. The pages in the book are so old & crumbled that the writing under the pictures has broken away or faded out. Amos has identified some & we even found a picture of his mother in there too. There is a picture of James David Miller holding his daughter - Flora Ellen Miller, & one of his father - Miles "Pa" Miller & of his mother - Fannie "Big Grannie" (Blakeley) Miller. I would be glad to send copies of these if would like, & will tell me where to mail them. Don't know if any of this has been a help. I know I've rattled on alot & wish I could help with the Flynns, but maybe Frances c! an be of some help for you. Besides her, there are two other sisters & three brothers still living. Earlier this year, I took my Mother to see Pearlie Mae Hancock (she is my Dad's cousin) & we went to visit Frances. Pearlie Mae wanted me to meet some of Daddy's other cousins that I had never known. She is such a sweet lady & in her 80's , but certainly doesn't look it. Please let me know how all this turns out. Hope to hear back from you soon. Becky
