    3. Looks like I should have been wearing my reading glasses. The site address I have is: http://carlisle-www.army.mil.usamhi/PhotoDB.html However, I can't get a response from any army website tonight. (???) Another way to approach the site would be to go to Cyndislist.com - select "Military Resources Worldwide" then select "US-Civil War ~ War for Southern Independence" then select "Publications, Photographs & Supplies" then select "MHI Photograph Database - Catalog of CW Prints" then click on "MHI Photograph Dababase" (which says http://144.99.192.240/PhotoDB.html across the bottom of my screen) But that's not going through either. Maybe they're not open at this hour of the day? Or maybe they got overwhelmed and closed the site? The group that one is trying to contact is the Department of the Army U.S. Military History Institute Carlisle Barracks Carlisle, PA 17013-5008 If someone manages to get through to them, please advise how you did it. -Marsha [email protected] Get Your Free E-mail at Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com) Ancestry.com -- For all your Family Correspondence!

    1. [KYTRIGG] Land Between the Lakes
    2. This came off of another list, but i decided to pass it along Subj: Land Between the Lakes To: [email protected] The Land Between the Lakes was designated as one of the World Heritage Sites by the United Nations. However, congress has passed The American Land Sovereignty Protection Act (ALSPA) which seems to protect this and other similar sites from the intrusion of the UN. We need to contact our Senators to ask them to S510. ********************************************* The American Land Sovereignty Protection Act (ALSPA), H.R.883, passed the House in May. ALSPA reaffirms that U.S. lands are under the authority of Congress -- not the UN -- and states that the UN will no longer be able to designate U.S. lands as "World Heritage Sites" or "biosphere reserves" without congressional approval. This bill would protect U.S. sovereignty against attacks made possible by a treaty ratified in 1972 called the World Heritage Convention. No action has yet been taken on the Senate companion bill, S.510. In the Commerce/Justice/State Appropriations bill, Rep. J.D. Hayworth's (R-AZ) H.Amdt.412 to H.R.2670 added language (adopted Aug. 5 by 217-209) that prohibits the State Department from spending funds in support of "adding or maintaining any World Heritage Site in the United States" pursuant to this same treaty. However, without ALSPA, the UN can still designate "heritage sites" in the U.S. ********************************************* You can read this article at: http://www.eagleforum.org/psr/2000/jan00/psrjan00.html The article is near the top of the page. Links in this article will take you to the official government page for these bills. Rep. Ed Bryant is one of the co-sponsors of the house bill. In fact ALL of our Republican Tennessee U. S. Representatives are co-sponsors, and NONE of our Democratic representatives have joined them. That means that the democrats had rather the United Nations control our U. S. lands rather than the American people. This should make a difference when you go the the poles in November! If you want to look up your house member or senator go to: http://www.congressvote.com/ Here you will find links to all 50 states. Remember, it was under the democrats that our LBL was taken from its rightful owners (many of them our own families). Dan Martin Timothy C.
