James M. Futrell, born 1856 in Trigg Co., married Cynthia Green of Stewart Co. Azilee Futrell born December 11, 1884 Looking over into Stewart Co.:Palestine Dennis Parker gives birth to a child named Azilee....born December 9, 1884. Azilee Parker is the granddaughter of Levicy Futrell born 1825 and appearing in Shadrach's Bible, also living with Rebecca Futrell Parker in 1850 shortly after her marriage to a Hendon and her remarriage to a Dennis, whereupon she named a daughter Charlotte. And my Azilee isn't missing. She was my grandfather's first cousin and she married my grandmmother's brother. Hello. This is a little off topic but I just wanted to pass this along to you. In recent weeks, several people have mentioned that they wished they had listened to the older people in their families concerning the stories and family traditions of earlier times. Some of you have even mentioned that you are now trying to interest the children in your own families in genealogy (children, grandchildren, niece, nephew, etc.) so they don't have the same regrets that you do. As we all know, unless a child finds something at least remotely interesting, it is unlikely that they will retain stories, concepts, etc. for any length of time....if they ever get it at all. I recently found a series of books that some of you might be interested in. They are called American Kids in History by David C. King. The three of the series that I have are "Civil War Days," "Pioneer Days," and "Wild West Days." There are also other books like "Colonial Days" and "Victorian Days." Basically each book takes a fictional family and uses crafts, cooking, prose, making homemade toys, and other activities to show how they lived and interacted with each other and their environment. I'm not talking out of the top of my hat here, I homeschool my kids and I have reviewed a lot of children's materials and these books are good. It makes history interesting because it adds hands on type activities and stories that the child can relate to, as well as making it more personal by having the activities revolve around a fictional, but very believable, family. The books are also attractively bound (paperback) and interestingly llustrated with easy instructions for the crafts. I don't mean this to be a commercial or sponsorship of these books, but I wanted to pass the information along to those of you who are interested. After using these books, my kids are interested in finding out about our own ancestors and can more easily relate to them because they have an understanding of how the lived. It also gives them a kick to think that gre at great....grandfather so and so must have done this as a boy and he wore those kinds of clothes and great great....grandmother didn't get to wear pants (she had to wear long skirts with umpteen petticoats even in the hottest weather).....and now when they think about how Aunt and Uncle so and so left the rest of the family and moved west they understand how truly difficult a choice that must have been. Just a thought, Kathy in FL [email protected]

I have to say again how sorry I am that this has been a problem for people. I've since talked to some "techies" about this new worm and it is a really REALLY super irritating one. However, it doesn't damage you system. It inserts an application file into your windows program and changes the .ini file. Deleting the application deletes the worm from your computer then you have to change you .ini file back to what it was. We were talking about unusual names....well as I said here's my great Aunt Lois. Needless to say she despised her first name "Pokie." She was named after an Indian woman that was a Nanny and then wife to one of her parents relatives....haven't found any of that in the records for sure yet. The woman was given the name "Pokiehontas" by the family and they thought enough about her to name their daughter after her. Pokie Lois Joiner was born 23 May 1909 in Trigg Co., KY. {Note: She is still alive, but I have her permission to search for her family's roots so am free to give her info. } Her parents were James Israel Joiner and Emily Katherine Castleberry. On 10 Jul 1926 she married Odis P. Chapman, the son of James Thurston Chapman and Lee Ella McCarter. Odis was born 7 Apr 1904 in Guthrie, KY. He died 13 Oct 1968 and is buried in Flat Lick Cemetery in Christian County, KY. Children: 1. Herschel Chapman b. 26 Jul 1930, d. 31 Oct 936 and is buried in Flat Lick Cemetery 2. Odis Chapman, Jr. (b. 1927) m. Margie Robertson (daughter of Fred Robertson and Wilma Clark) 3. James Ray Chapman (b. 1935) m. Carole Wade 4. Ella Mae Chapman (b. 1935) m. Robert Cates Wade (son of Campbell Marion Wade and Alice Cates) NOTE: James and Ella Mae are twins. NOTE: If you are interested in this line at all, Ella Mae Chapman Wade is working on this branch of our family, I'd be happy to pass along your queries. First, let me apologize to anyone who may have been affected/infected by a email post of mine. When I first realized what was happening I had to email everyone in my address book because I wasn't sure if the virus/worm had compromised my address book or not. Second, this is a really new one folks. Neither McAfee nor Norton recognized it at first. I had to go to a third virus scan to find it. Once I found it I was able to back track it using Symantec's website. As a matter of fact, it wasn't originally detected by the antivirus companies until 1-13-2000. What was happening...in case you are having the same problem...was that all my incoming mail was immediately being forwarded to my outbox and being returned to its sender...only now with my name on it...with an attachment. It went something like this: "Sorry that I can't respond immediately, but please check out this attachment and tell me what you think." As you can see, even if you knew the sender it was disguised so well that you might not suspect until it was too late that it could be a worm. Here is the website that will tell you more about it: www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.plage.worm.html The worm sets itself up in a file in windows called intend.exe So far I haven't found anything that will clean it up....so I performed radical surgery and just deleted the application. It hasn't affected the performance of my computer; however, the worm also altered my .ini file and now I have to figure out how to get it back the way it belongs. If anyone has any ideas .... please help. Again, I really am sorry if this has caused anyone any grief. I ought to know better, but I knew who the original sender was and didn't even think that it could be a worm/Trojan. If attachments are still going out on my emails, please let me know! Kathy, I got an e-mail from your address with an exe. Attachment, but did not open it as I though this a little strange for genealogy. It said Humor exe.. I deleted it after I read your note to the group. Floyd Cooper Indianapolis
