On LDS it shows the marriage of my GGG grandfather and mother, Elijah H. Morris and Martha Atwood to be in Trigg Co. I always thought that was an error until recently when I spoke with a man who said that many Smith co. TN. Morris' and Atwoods migrated north to Canton Ky. Not until I started researching that Co. did I realize how very many people with that surname were actually living in that area during the 1800s and continue today for all I know. Just trying to see if I can located more folks in my line in that area. Elijah's father was a Thomas and I think his father was a William Morris. Martha was the dau. of Edwin Young Atwood and Granddaughter of Gilbert Atwood. That line is documented but the Morris' one is a little obscure. If you have any info on these lines please let me know. Typed by Lora Radiches: Surnames in this biography are: BACON, Rowlett, Edwards, Wilson, Spears, Parks, Tuck, Turner, Caldwell, Mayes, Hinkle CHARLES PARKS BACON, of Evansville, was graduated from medical college a few months after the Civil war broke out, and at the age of ninety-four is one of the oldest doctors in Indiana. He practiced his profession for over half a century, and more than forty years of that time he was relied upon as a man of skill and highest professional attainments in the City of Evansville. Doctor Bacon was born in Christian County, Kentucky, September 6, 1836, a son of Charles Asbury and Susan (Rowlett) Bacon. Both parents were born in Virginia, and in 1832 moved to Christian County, Kentucky. His father was a farmer, later a merchant at La Fayette and at Garrettsburg, Kentucky. He died in January, 1886, at the age of seventy-nine. His first wife, Susan Rowlett, died in 1840, and of five children two died in infancy. Dr. Charles Parks Bacon grew up from the age of ten years at Cadiz, Trigg County, Kentucky. He attended schools in Kentucky, for two years studied medicine under his brother, Doctor Thomas, and was graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania in 1861, and in June of that year began practice at Cadiz, Kentucky. He remained there twelve years and in February, 1873, located at Evansville, where he kept up his work with unfailing skill and more than professional devotion until he retired in 1917, after having spent fifty-six years in a notable career of helpfulness to his fellow men. Doctor Bacon married at Cadiz, Kentucky, January 23, 1866, Miss Emma Caldwell Mayes, daughter of Mathew and Elizabeth Ann (Caldwell) Mayes. Her parents were born in Kentucky and her father was a prominent lawyer of that state. Mrs. Bacon, who for many years was prominent in the Christian Church and in charitable and social circles at Evansville, died October 27, 1918. Their only daughter, Emma Mayes, married Mr. Clarence L. Hinkle, of Evansville, and they had a daughter, Charline Mayes Hinkle. Doctor Bacon in politics has always been a Democrat and in 1896 was an elector on the gold Democratic ticket. He is a member of the Christian Church, is a York and thirty-second degree Scottish Rite Mason and held many offices in the Scottish Rite bodies and also went through the York Rite bodies to the rank of eminent commander. He was one of the organizers and is a charter member of the Vanderburg County Medical Society, a member of the Indiana State and American Medical Associations. Doctor Bacon was always a student throughout his routine work as a physician and surgeon. He attended the New York Polyclinic and kept in touch with advances in his profession by attending medical conventions. His success in a material way did not prevent him from giving a great deal of his professional time without consideration of pay to individual cases requiring his skill. He was for many years visiting surgeon to St. Mary’s Hospital, consulting surgeon to the Deaconess Hospital, and physician and surgeon and a trustee of the Rathbone Memorial Home. In the old Evansville Medical College, established before the Civil war, he filled three successive chairs, that of anatomy, surgery and finally the chair of surgical diseases of women. Doctor Bacon has for over fifty years been one of the directors of the Citizens Bank & Trust Company of Evansville and has held the office of vice president for forty years. Doctor Bacon’s home since he came to Evansville in 1873 has been at the same address, 619 South Second Street.

Hello List Mary A McWaters Lane (1841--1900) is shown on the 1900 census with William Lane, son born Aug. 1881, Louiza Lane, daughter born Dec. 1885, and Hoy O Lane, son born Mar. 1896. Was Minnie McWaters married to James Milton Lowe or John Robert Lowe? In some inf.that I had gotten from a relative of John Robert a few years ago, she had Minnie McWaters listed as a wife of James Milton. Also Cynthia Ann McWaters listed as a wife of James Milton. Cynthia and Minnie were suppose to be sisters, daughters of Samuel & Jane McWaters. This person also had three children listed for James Milton & Minnie McWaters Lowe: Elroy H. born 9-25-1912; John P. born 4-25-1914; and Glenn born 5-22-1916. So were these children in fact, children of John Robert Lowe & Minnie Mcwaters rather than children of James Milton? Things can sure get turned around, can't they? John Robert Lowe Married Minnie McWaters, Minnie died Apr. 4 1932 and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Paducah, KY. They had sons Elroy Hayes, John Preston and Glenn. Glenn is also buried at Oak Grove Cemetery. John Robert Lowe was 41 when Minnie died, and did probably remarry, but I have not found a record of it. Anna Lee McWaters Husband ( if I have the right Edward Hall) died 1933. see posting of July 25 2002. Anna Lee died in 1980, she also could have remarried , but I do not have a record of a second Marriage. I have seen posting that Anna Lee McWaters married a John Lowe. I have tried to find information on this marriage with out any luck.
