I should have mentioned that I knew about the Christian County book item. Sorry. Researchers who are direct descendants of James and Hannah (RAMSEY) DAVIS, and who appear to know the line well, tell me there is no indication that they ever had a son named Isaac -- and that the given name, Isaac, is not to be found in the family. My aunt telephoned the Christian County Genealogical Society, publishers of the book, to query them about the source of the link, and they say the person who compiled the book has died and all the notes and sources are lost. I was terribly excited when I first ran across the item in the Christian County book. It really took the wind out of my sails to later be told that there is no hard evidence for the link. But I have looked and looked and have yet to find anything other than the Christian County book that links Isaac DAVIS to James and Hannah (RAMSEY) DAVIS. So I am left to continue to search for the origins of Isaac DAVIS, husband of Sarah CLARK. I really appreciate your taking the time and trouble to transcribe and post the excerpt. It's probably good for us all to be reminded now and then that secondary sources are fallible. Or perhaps these messages will flush out that missing link, because surely the compiler had to have had some reason to have made the connection. It is so frustrating not to know what it was...
