Susan, Here is what information was in the Chrisian Co. book, the Hurt and Shelton names did not have a bio listed in the book, but there was references to the Hurt & Shelton names in it, not the exact names you were looking for. I don't know if they are associated with your line or not, but I thought I would send them to you to evaluate. P354--Alexander P. Campbell, when he was 12 years old went to Elkton, Todd Co. and with Messrs. "Hurt" & Jones learned the trade of saddler......... P247 & 248--The boundary of the original Hopkinsville School District No. 37 was worded as follows: "Beginning at B. B. Jones to R. G. Whitaker, J. S. Malone, William Mason, J. L. Tutt, Samuel Harrison, Wyatt Rembrough, E. Love, E. Wall, Wallace Ware, J. W. A. McGarvey, Mrs. Lorin, John B. Knight, C. A. Shepard, "William Hurt", Thomas Hayes, William Pendleton, Benjamin Gray, John McCarroll, James Stephenson, George O. Thompson, George Wood, J. H. West, G. B. Long, W. W. Rossington, H. Hopper, K. Twyman, Stephen Trice, E. B. Richardson, Thomas Clark. All the above names and others are added to the schools of Hopkinsville. P65--Under Later Settlers--there was a fair list of names including "the Sheltons", there was no given names, just the surname. P138--Under Tobacco--The honor of having grown and shipped from the county the first hogshed of tobacco is claimed for several persons. Some claim that William Fagin and "Alexander Shelton" shipped the first hogshed from Eddyville on the Cumberland River to New Orleans. P347--Martha (Bronaugh's) Shelton--This was found under the Bronaugh's bio and has a list of her grandfather, parents, siblings, etc. James Bronaugh married Miss Isabel Hart, a native of Virginia. They had the following children: Martha M., who married Dr. Shelton, moved to Texas and there died, leaving four children; Malcolm H. died, leaving a wife and one child; David B. died, leaving a wife and three children; James B., now a resident of Hopkinsville; William T., of Hopkinsville; Judith Ann, deceased, and Jane M. Bronaugh. (I didn't know of the Hurt name could have been misspelled.) P626--Elizabeth (Martin) Shelton--This was found under the Presley O. Martin bio. It has a list of her relatives. She was born to Presley & Elizabeth (O'Daniel) Martin and she was listed as marrying a "Shelton", no further information on her marriage.
