Hi. Two inquiries in Todd County: Bernard EDWARDS, abt. 1787 in Lynchburg, VA married Patsy COLEMAN? and moved to Todd County about 1808. Their kids: William, Mary Ann, Gillie, Booker Bernhard, Louisa Fontaine, Peyton G. Bernard, Sr. signed his will in 1869 in Todd County. The daughter Gillie m. John ATKINS in 1842 in Todd County and died in childbirth 3 years later. Any info on the Edwards clan would be appreciated. The other requesti is much more recent. Gillie's grandson John Thomas PORTER m. Mary Josephine ADAMS 13 Sep 1893. Mary's parents were James and Sarah ADAMS. He was born in 1838, died 4 Dec 1904. His grandson insisted his wife was a Todd (based on how he and his brother were named) but Baker also makes sense using that criteria. The only concrete information I've been able to dig up on James and family is census records. The story is that they were a wealthy family and had a number of slaves before the civil war, but I've never found any evidence.
