My Willis line came from NC to KY and they spread out into Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, etc. My ggrandfather was William STERLING WILLIS, a Methodist preacher that 'road the circuit' to preach. He married first an Elizabeth Huffman in 1855 in Garrard Co., KY and they had at least two children and he then married a Creek Indian squaw that he 'met, took, ???' from a reservation supposedly around Bristol, VA around 1865 after returning from the Civil War and they had several children. There was a Methodist preacher from every generation of the Willis' all the way back to 1000 in England and possibly even farther back - there are several Willis' preachers buried in the Church yards in England.
