Thanks to everyone who answered my previous query. I received some concrete facts which brings up more questions. Hope someone can help me with my puzzle. West Dandridge Hurt (1765) died ca 1816 in Todd Co., Ky. He was married twice according to many peoples records. First to Lucy Shelton (1768). Her parents were John Shelton (1722) and Elizabeth Lawson. Grandparents: Ralph Shelton (1685) & Mary Crisp/Chrispan. #2 wife was Katherine Shelton (1749). Her parents: Ralph Shelton (1709) & Mary Daniel. Grandparents: Ralph Shelton (1685) & Mary Crisp/Chrispan. My questions: 1. Katherine would have been 16 yrs older than him. Was that common in that era? 2. If West died in 1816 his youngest would have been ca 10yrs. Lucy would have been ca 38 at time of birth. Would it have been possible for Lucy to die, West remarry & die in that short a time. Katherine remarried. What would have happened to these young children? Sorry to be so long. Nina Williams
