The 1850 census record shows a 14-year old James, when mine would have been 11, but other than that, it seems to fit. However, regardless of whether my James fits this family, this Adams family is closely related to my (either by blood or proximity). Jasper Newton's son Edward married Ambie Camp, who is the granddaughter of James and Sarah through their daughter Ida. Also, one of Jasper's kids is Porter (another of James' daughters married John T. Porter) and another has a middle name Josephine, as did one of James' girls, which doesn't seem real common otherwise. Anyone who can shed light on this, it's much appreciated. Don, I am new at this computer business. I got the name Garris off the computer, ancestry world tree search results, as her maiden name in one place but on further search it seems to be a married name being married to Benjamin Garris. There is a Martha listed under Amos Garris II and Elizabeth Elligood so whether her maiden name was Garris and she married Zerubabel Starks and had her family and later married Benjamin Garris I don't know. I didn't mean to be giving wrong information, just don't understand what I see here. I don't know a lot about doing stuff on the computer yet (scanning & attachments). I do not have a picture of Grandpa Howell Edwards who was Rebecca's brother. I do have photo-stat copy of his grandson Howell Edwards from the Todd County History book. I've got a possible brother or cousin to Thomas, but though I've had queries before, no one's had any further data: Bernard Edwards was born 1785 in Lynchburg, VA, possibly the son of William and Patsy (Glover) Edwards. He settled in Todd Co in 1808 and about that time married Martha Coleman. They had the following children: 2 i. William M., married Dorothy G. Davenport 3 ii. Mary Ann, married Garrard Cherry 4 iii. Gillie G. (-1845), married John L. ATKINS 5 iv. Booker Bernard, married Martha Wooldridge 6 v. Louisa Fontaine (1825-1899), married George L. Young 7 vi. Peyton G. (1827->1900), married Mary R. Graham Gillie and John L. had Henrietta and Melvina Atkins. The parents of Bernard came from a researcher who wasn't in the direct line and had no primary source or siblings, so that's all I know. Hello Avia, Sorry to say i've not had any luck finding Thomas Edwards parents yet but i'm still trying. :) I have found a gentleman who also descends from the Gibson side of the family and he has seen the old family bible that list Thomas Edwards birthdate as 3-25-1772 and born in VA.. It also list his death date as 5-16-1860 in Todd Co. ,and his second wife as Sarah Gibson b. 1-9-1802 in S.C. She died 2-16-1871 in Todd. and was the dau. of George & Abigail Gibson . I also found where George Gibson's son George married a Lucy Edwards on 5-21-1835, i wounder if she is also Thomas & Polly Edwards dau.? You wouldn't happen to have any old photos of Howell Edwards would you? I have the following information from another source. I am related to Robert Sherrod Sr. (b. 1762). His son Thomas (b. 1793) is from my line. Yes there was a Nancy Amanda (b. 1788) married to Thomas Louis Driskill. My grandfather Thomas Sherrod who married Sarah Pitman had Martha (b. 1827), my grandmother Martha married a Harris Horn, who had a son Thomas Nathan (b. 1847) married around 1868 to a Nancy Sherrod. Maybe this Nancy I have is a sibling of one of Robert and Abba's other children when they married. The years would be far apart. My Nancy shows the date getting married September 13, 1868.
