I'm looking for information on the Richmond family of Todd County. My line is intertwined with this family over the generations, beginning with Elizabeth "Betsy" Richmond that married Benjamin Grisham/Grissom, 1812, Sumner County. Another is Leander "Lee" Richmond, of Todd County, who married Sophronia "Fronie" Grisham. I know who Leander's parents were and a few of his siblings, but I don't have any info on any children of Lee and Fronie. We have other connections thru the Grisham's and branches. Would love to have information on this family, especially any info on Elizabeth Richmond. Have zip on her. Appreciate your time and hope to hear from someone. (P.S. Are you still traveling casapapa?) Thanks folks. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com

I have also responded to you at the email addy that you posted. Lee A. Mayes dod is April 1898 and he is buried in Barton Cemetery in Hays County, Texas. As you only mentioned the one child, Susie E. Mayes, I suppose that she is your connection to this family? If so, then I really would like to talk with you because we are both reseaching the same family.
One more and I'm going to try to leave you good Todd folks alone. Atleast for today. On this search I'm looking for family/descendents of William Roby JOHNSON and his wife Isabelle GRISHAM. Yes, there's that name again. Isabelle didn't die until 1998 so I'm hoping she still has people there in Todd, or looking on this site. Hope to hear from someone. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com
Looking for descendents of Eldon I. Grisham, born December 3, 1878, died December 30, 1954 Todd Co. Also looking for family of his brother James W. born September 23, 1874 (date per death cert) died June 4, 1945 Todd Co. Anyone connected with these two please contact me. We are related. Thanks. Can anyone tell me what the relationship is between the KIRBY AND GRISHAM/GRISSOM families? I know there is a book out there some where called "Kirby Kin", but I can't find it anywhere. This is not only a curiousity to me because of my Grisham line, but also because my dearest friend of over 30 years is married to a KIRBY. Thought it would be neat if I could tell her we were more than sisters in friendship. Thanks. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com

I'm looking for information on a Samuel QUALLS and a Sarah Elizabeth (Betty) QUALLS that were living in Todd Co. in 1870. On that census they were living in the home of Samuel and Ruby SHERRARD/SHERRODE. Samuel and Sarah were only children. They were probably siblings or cousins. The Sherrard family might have been guardians, but more than likely, given their Cherokee ancestry, Samuel and Sarah were hired, given room and board, etc. ANY help with this QUALL'S family would be deeply appreciated. At every turn I hit a dead end. Thanks. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com

Does anyone out there know where I can purchase books pertaining to Todd County History and those that would help with genealogy research. I'm sure there is a list some where on line, but as yet, I haven't seen it. Have quite a few for Sumner Co. TN if anyone needs help there. Also have TN Civil War Veterans Questionnaires. These provide a lot of information. I have seen some on Todd in the out of print book stores, but they want an arm and a leg to pay for them. Hope someone can help. Thanks. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com

Perhaps you could help me some more. I have a problem with James G. Brumfield that I am trying to straighten out. Other researchers have James as marrying Mary Lea or Mary Seay on 6/17/1795 in Campbell County, VA. They have James birth date as Before 1775. One researcher has James first marriage to Mary Seay in 1795 and second marriage to Mary Keeling in 1805. They also cite James' birth as Before 1775. The problem I have, is that in the Todd Co. KY 1850 census, James age is listed as 70 which puts his birth around 1780. If his age is correct, then a 1795 first marriage would be possible but questionable. Do you know where the 1805 marriage to Mary Keeling took place? I would like to document everything that I can, as this is one of my direct lines. Thank you, ED
I'm searching for relatives of a Grisham family that moved to Todd Co. some time in the 1850's. My William Grisham and his wife Eleanor Dorris Grisham came from Sumner, originally. On the 1860 Todd census they had the following children: William Pasley Grisham, James F.(?), Elizabeth Jane, John Mathes Grisham, Benjamin R., Levi Andrew, and James Samuel Grisham. William Pasley Grisham married Elizabeth Jane Cornelius. Elizabeth Jane married William Addison. Levi Andrew married 1st Margaret Elizabeth Sears, 2nd Jennie (maiden name unknown). John Mathes Grisham married Sarah Elizabeth Qualls. James Samuel Grisham married 1st Annie Shemwell, 2nd Anna E. Christian. James F.(?) is a mystery. He disappears after the 1860 census and his middle initial is uncertain as the writing back then was a bit odd. Benjamin R. goes missing after the 1880 census. At that time he was still living with his mother, Eleanor (Ellen). I have quite a bit of information on these folks, but still have several holes. Would love to have info and Sarah Qualls. On the 1870 Todd census, she and a Samuel Qualls were living with the Samuel Sherrode family, probably as domestic and farm labor. The Sherrodes may have been guardians, but as Sarah is of Cherokee descent, I'd imagine these two Qualls were in servitude. Annie Shemwell died very young. Would love information on her family. Quite a few of these folks are buried in Gant Cemetery. Levi moved to Henderson Co. KY, but his daughter Sophronia "Fronie" married Leander Richmond and moved back to Todd. I would love to share information with anyone that has connections to these people. I believe that some of the Grishams from this line still reside in Todd. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com

Surnames: Rodefer, Martin, Rongey, Lanigan, Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACE/1108 Message Board Post: Democrat-Register, Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri, Friday, April 24, 1903. OBITUARY. There occurred a death in Bonne Terre, on Friday last week, that caused a gloom of sadness over our entire community when Mrs. A. Rodefer, whom we all honored and respected, passed to her heavenly reward at the ripe age of 75 years. This good old lady had resided in our midst for many years and her gracious disposition and kindness of heart made her a general favorite. Her mission on earth seemed to consist of seeking to brighten the lives of those around her, and her acts of genuine charity and gentleness would require columns to narrate. Her death was quiet and peaceful. Her work was finished and God called her home. The remains were conveyed to Potosi [Washington County] for interment and the funeral services were held in the Catholic Church at that place. Avoline F. Martin was born in Elkton, Todd County, Kentucky, August 17, 1827, and became a resident of this state, at Old Mines, Washington County, in 1846. On August 17, 1848, she was married to James C. Rodefer, who preceded her to the grave 31 years ago. To the union were born three children, but one died in infancy. The survivors are: Mrs. William Rongey of this place, the eldest, and with whom deceased made her home for the past fifteen years, and Mrs. R. C. Lanigan, also a resident of Bonne Terre. She lived to see twenty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In 1886, Mrs. Rodefer embraced the Catholic faith and lived a consistent member of that church until her death at 4 p.m., April 17, 1903. She was the last of a family of fourteen children, none of whom she ever saw after leaving Kentucky, but one, Benjamin F. Martin, who visited her twenty years after the first separation. May she rest in peace. Note: Mrs. Rodefer is buried in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Potosi, Washington County, Missouri, with her husband, James C. Rodefer. According to the Washington County Cemetery records, James C. Rodefer was born May 16, 1824, and died Oct. 2, 1872. Please note also that the Washington County Cemetery records indicate a date of death for Avoline of April 16, 1903, and above obit which was published in the newspaper indicates a date of death of Friday, April 17, 1903. According to my perpetual calendar, April 17, 1903, fell on a Friday, so I assume the newspaper obit is correct, but I've not seen the tombstone, nor am I related, so I don't know that for a fact.
