    1. [KYTODD] Listowner message
    2. Karen in Ky
    3. Hi all, I'm getting a dozen or more virus emails every day now being bounced to me as listowner. PLEASE be responsible list members and computer owners. If you have an anti-virus program PLEASE make sure it has the most current update and that you have scanned your computer this week. If you do not have an anti-virus program or you aren't sure if yours is working properly PLEASE go to http://housecall.antivirus.com/ and do a free online virus scan. I realize that it takes awhile for this scan to complete, but you'll be doing everyone a favor if it is your computer sending all these viruses out to your friends, family and mail lists. A free anti-virus program is also available at http://www.grisoft.com Thank you, Karen Combs Listowner for KYTODD-L CC for Todd County, KYGenWeb

    1. [KYTODD] FRANK GRISHAM/GRISSOM
    2. Since things seem to be a bit quiet on this site, thought I'd try posting a new Grisham name. I'm looking for any information on FRANK GRISHAM/GRISSOM, born about 1845 in Sumner County. Believe his name was actually JAMES F. He was with his family in Todd until atleast 1860. His parents were William Grisham and Eleanor Dorris Grisham. I was recently told by a 96 year old distant relative that he went by the name "Frank". I have a lot of info on this family to share. Just need to find a few missing links. Thanks again for your time. Jenny in Texas

    1. [KYTODD] Need address to request guardian bond copies
    2. Hi folks. I sent my request for copies of several guardian bonds to the courthouse, but they said they didn't have the guardian bond books there. Does anyone know where I should have sent my request? I have the books and page numbers needed to process the request. Also how much should I send? They returned my check for $20. Would that be enough to lookup and make copies of 4 bonds? Appreciate you time and help. Jenny in Texas

    1. [KYTODD] LAMKIN surname in Todd, Meade, Breckinridge, Marion, Washington Co.
    2. Hi, Robin. Thank you for your response! I have not done extensive research on the LAMKIN side yet (I'm trying to get my side compiled and written up first), but I do have some basic information, much of which was given to me by my husband's aunt after she did some research. I will be happy to share it with you. The following is what I have to date. Would you please send any and all information you have on LAMKIN/LAMPKIN/LAMBKIN (various ones in the family spelled it different ways at times). I do not recognize any of the related surnames you gave, nor am I aware that any of my husband's family were in any of the counties you mentioned. All of which means nothing, I have learned. So, let me hear from you after you have time to look over my info. You are the first person who has responded to me about this surname. LAMKIN's are few and far between - - I seldom run across the name in any of my research either. Martha Penick LAMKIN Jefferson Co. KY 1 Jeremiah LAMKIN, b. After 1595, Ratcliff, Middlesex Eng.; d. 1. [KYTODD] Re: [KYGREEN-L] Mayme Sledge Penick
    2. Thank you so much for posting obits. This one is a real treasure-find for me. It brought back some lovely memories. "Aunt Maymie" was one of the favorite people of my childhood. She always had twinkling eyes, always was smiling, and spoke to me with such a sweet and kind, soft voice, as she looked at me with great interest and total attention. She made me feel so very special. She acted like she really loved me, and I loved her, even though we saw one another only on special occasions and not on a regular basis. Sixty years later, I can seen her sweet face as though it were yesterday that we last met. One of my treasured possessions in my bedroom is a china dresser set, handpainted and signed by Aunt Maymie. There are three matching pieces in the set: (1) A hatpin holder, which is similar to a small vase, but the top is solid with several small holes in which to stick the tall hatpins so popular during Aunt Mayme's day. (2) A hair holder which is a round dish with a cover having a hole in the center. A woman would tuck into that hole the loose hairs she lost as she brushed, combed and washed her hair. I have been told that when a woman accumulated enough hair this way, she would cover it with fabric and make a pin-cushion of it. (3) A round dish with a solid round cover. I'm sure what the intended purpose of this closed container was, but I have always kept safety pins, straight pins, and the occasional needle in it. She was the wife of my grandfather's brother, Charles "Charlie" PENICK. If I recall correctly, she was from Texas, and I believe she and Uncle Charlie met while he was in Texas for several years in a business there. Thank you for making my "evening"! God bless you for all your efforts in posting these gems for us. Martha (Penick) LAMKIN Wednesday 18 Sept. 2002 Mayme Sledge Penick Mrs. Mayme Sledge Penick, 92 daughter of the late Dr. J. R. Sledge and Mrs. Mary Harris Sledge, was born February 29, 1880 in Sweetwater, Alabama and departed this life Tuesday, January 16, 1973 at 6:40 p.m. at Norton's Memorial Infirmary in Louisville. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at the time of her death. She united in marriage to Mr. Charlie Penick on October 22, 1907 and he preceded her in death in 1946. Mrs. Penick is survived by one son: Hansford Penick, Greensburg; one grandson: Charles Penick, Greensburg; four great-grandchildren: Michael Penick, Deborah Penick, Charles Eric Penick and Allen McKibben, all of Greensburg. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 1973 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Greensburg Cemetery. Rev. Terry Bishop officiated. Transcribed by Wanda Bagby Carlson for Karen Jorgensen.
