I understand there was a fire at the Simpson County, Ky. courthouse in 1882, where records were destroyed. I am wondering if there would be other avenues to help me on my Lewis lineage. My grandparents are John Lewis and Rebecca Freeman that were married 10 Sep 1869 in Allen Co., Ky. They were still in the 1880 Allen County census John Lewis 40.. he was born in White Co., TN. Mary F. E. Lewis 27 Joseph Lewis 7 Amanda E. Lewis 5 Riley Lewis 4 Rebecca E. Lewis 3 Mary A. Lewis 3m: My next grandfather is Jacob Dale Lewis who was born in the town of Franklin, in Simpson County, Ky in 1894.. There isn't any 1890 census that I know of. Riley Lewis and my Jacob Dale Lewis were in Illinois by 1900. I don't know if their parents , John Lewis and Rebecca Freeman died in Simpson County or not. I am trying to find info on that. I made a typo on this. Riley Lewis was in Illinois by 1900. I cannot find Jacob Dale Lewis there until about 1920.
