    3. I am looking for the parents of Edward/Edmund LILLIS. The family tradition says that they were from County Cork. On his death certificate it lists father as Pat LILLIS, Ireland and mother's name is not legible (but might be BRIAN ?) also born in Ireland. Edward was married to Susan MCAULIFFE on July 17, 1859 in Frankfort, Franklin Co., Kentucky, USA. On the bond and marriage return it names Mary Ryan as Susan's mother and the witnesses were Dennis GRIFFIN and Eliza RYAN. The family always attended the Church of the Good Shepherd in Frankfort so I assume that's where they were married. Edward was born in 25 Dec. 1830 according to his death certificate. The family tradition says that he came over when he was 20 years old, that would make it 1850. I also was told that he had relatives in Philadelphia, Pa. It is possible that he had 2 brothers, JOHN and PATRICK, that followed him here. There was also another JOHN and WILLIAM in the area by the name of LILLIS and I'm looking for a link with them also. I am also interested in the MCAULIFFE family who may also have come from County Cork. I am thinking that RYAN may have been either a maiden name her mother married again. I have found in the 1850 census that there were quite a few RYAN men who were listed as employed by the rail road. By 1860 there appears women by the name of RYAN so perhaps they had sent for the women folk by then???? Any help greatly appreciated. Regards, Jean Frances Mahaffey.
