Also, can you clarify the relationships between the people named in the letter?<< ============== ============== The letter was dated March 5th, 1980. I believe the lady who wrote the letter is now dead. As to relationships, I'll try but it would be just my interpretation as I don't know anything about these people myself. Grandfather Ryan married ????? Children: Elizabeth (Eliza) who married John Wallace. their children: "my mother" m. Frank McCullough Mary m. ??? Webster Julia m. ??? Settle (has dau. named Cynthia) John Patrick (Pat) John Wallace served in Union Army during Civil War wife #1 Elizabeth Ryan Wallace dies of Typhoid fever in Frankfort and she and an infant are buried in Frankfort. "my mother" is 12, Mary is 13, Julia is 11 Then "step-grandmother" (Grandfather Ryan's #2 wife) comes to care for them but isn't well enough, so goes home. By this time their are a total of 7 children. John Wallace has sister, Nora Wallace Schibold, who lives in Frankfort. "My mother" goes to live with her. Mrs. Kirk speculates about relationships of LILLISes to her family: Susan McAuliffe Lillis ("MY MOTHER'S GRANDMOTHER), Mrs Kirk believes was a Ryan and sister to "Grandfather Ryan". Dennis ??? is half-brother of Elizabeth Ryan Wallace. Dennis has at least one child Lee. Susan Lillis dau. of Susan McAuliffe Lillis is married to Wade Hampton Triplett. Mrs. Kirk feel that Susan Triplett is the 1st cousin of "her mother" "Her mother" married Frank McCullough in Woodford County. They have at least one dau., Mary who married Mr. E.T. Kirk of Midway. "Her mother" has a cousin named Ellen Raff. "Her mother's" brothers Pat and John have a farm there at Midway. This is my best interpretation of the letter. - ---------------------------------------------------- - ---------------------------------------------------- On the marriage bond and return of Susan McAuliffe and Edward/Edmund Lillis in July 17, 1859, the witnesses are Eliza Ryan and Dennis Griffin. Susan's mother is listed as Mary Ryan. Elizabeth Ryan is married to John Wallace >>October 7, 1859 - John WALLACE - resident of Franklin County, KY - 30 - first marriage - born Ireland - to Eliza RYAN - resident of Franklin County, KY - 18 - first marriage - born Ireland.<< Dennis Griffin is married to Catherine Roman >>1853 - Dennis GRIFFIN - resident of Frankfort, Ky - 23 - single - born Ireland - to Catherine ROMAN - resident of Frankfort, Ky - 19 - single - born Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.<< Family tradition say that a Dennis (Ryan?? or Griffin??) married a Mary Lee. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Help I'm so confused!!!!!!! Thanks in advance, JFM.
