Brock, There is a reference to an early Shelby Co.CLAYTON in Willis' History - "Chapter XVI, Gallant First Sons of Shelby", p.265. This portion of the book is about the local Shelby Co. militia under Gen. Jos. Winlock who "...assembled upon the banks of the Ohio at Louisville in December, 1806 ..." On the muster rolls is listed a WILLIAM CLAYTON, Pvt. Don't have him in any of my files - do you know who he might be?
