Oct 25, 1821, Shelbyville, Shelby Co., KY, d. 1851 IND, and bro., Charles D. JOHNSTON, b. 1820 Shelby Co., KY -- emigrated to Putnam Co., IND abt 1838. There was another JOHNSTON, Lafayet te JOHNSTON, age 25, b.-KY, occup-laborer, living w/John H. JOHNSTON during 1850 U.S. census. I assume there was a family relationship, but don't know the nature of it. John H. JOHNSTON's occup listed as Merchant (1850-u.s.census), and Charles D. JOHNSTON, occup - Miller. I had a professional genealogist research this family in Shelby and Henry Co., KY, but alas, she could not come up w/any info to substantiate birthdates, the parents names, etc. John H. JOHNSTON marr. in 1842, Putnam Co., IND, 1)Eliza TALBOT, b. May 13, 1827-KY?, d. 1846 New Maysville, Putnam Co., IND. (Eliza was the dau. of Lore nzo TALBOT, b. 1805 Shelby Co., KY, d. 1834-IND?, and Hestor SCOTT, b. abt 1805 KY?, d. 1892-IND?). According to our family Source: Hestor Scott Towles, Eliza (SCOTT) TALBOT inherited prop. from her mother in Floyd Co., IND. Children of John H. JOHNSTON and Eliza TALBOT: dau. Catherine Hester JOHNSTON marr. William Price TOWLES, 1859 in Putnam Co., IND. (John H. marr ,1847, IND, 2) Mary BEATY, b. Shelby Co., KY (dau of Thomas BEAT TY). John H. JOHNSTON died in 1851, New Maysville, Putnam Co., IND, age 31). Bro, Charles D. Johnston-wife Sarah, sons-Leonidas, Joseph and Charles D. Jr., moved to Olney, Richland Co., ILL by 1860 (u.s. census), where Charles owned a "shoe factory". Children of Lorenzo TALBOT and Hestor SCOTT: Eliza TALBOT, 1827, Lorenzo Dow TALBOT - bd-ukn, James Edward TALBOT, b. 1831, female child TALBOT -bd ukn. I do not know the name of Hestor SCOTT's father and mother. According to History of Putnam County, Othniel ("Neddy"), John, and Aquilla TA LBOT came to Putnam Co., IND abt 1830 from Shelby Co., KY. History of Hendricks Co., IND., - biog. of James Edward TALBOT, s. of Lorenzo, (b. abt 1805), states he had an Uncle "Neddy".
