I have JOHNSTON family that was b. 1820/21 in Shelbyville, Shelby Co., KY...But I do not know the names of their parents. My JOHNSTON's: 1.John Henry JOHNSTON, b. 1821 Shelby Co., KY, moved to Putnam Co., IND by 1838 and lived there til his death in 1851, age 31. He was a merchant, and left property and money to his son, Millard Thomas JOHNSTON, b. 1850 and dau., Catherine Hestor (Johnston) TOWLES. Wife 1) Eliza/Elizabeth TALBOT, dau of Lorenzo TALBOT and Hestor SCOTT) who d. 1846. Marr 1849 to Wife 2) Mary Elizabeth BEATTY, dau of Thomas BEATTY of Shelby Co., KY. 2. Charles D. JOHNSTON, b. 1820 Shelby Co., KY., moved to Putnam Co., IND also by 1850 -- bro. of John Henry Johnston. Charles, occup-Miller, marr. Sarah_____, children: Leonidas, Joseph, Charles Jr. By 1860, this family had moved to Olney, Richland Co., ILL, and Charles owned a boot/shoe factory. 3. Lafayette JOHNSTON, b. 1826 Shelby Co., KY. Listed as Laborer living w/John Henry and family on 1850 u.s. census - IND. Assume younger bro., or nephew of above. __________ Do you know the names of your Benjamin JOHNSTON's children? I have seen a will for a Phillip JOHNSTON, and a John JOHNSTON, (not mine), in the KY Wills Book, but do not remember the names of the children mentioned.
