Hello! I am very interested in the family of Daniel Rice and Anna Leffler. There are some very familiar names in this family - Matilda is one - daughter of Jacob Rice and Mary Cooper. In early White County, TN taxlists, we have a Daniel Rice on Cane Creek in 1818. That same year, a Jacob Rice sold land in nearby Wilson (now Cannon) Cannon on Saunder's Fork (Auburntown), that had been the property of a John Rice who died prior to September 26, 1806. Also about 1818 in Wilson County, a Daniel Rice either sold or purchased land from a Buchanan. In 1806, Robert G. Anderson was administrator of the estate of George Rice, along with a Turner Lane who earlier (1793) had been in Wythe County, Virginia. In 1800, Robert G. Anderson and Turner Lane were in Bourbon County, Kentucky. I do not know if Shelby County, KY is anywhere near Bourbon County. Hopefully, someone will see a clue in all this and can help me put it all together. My William B. Rice shows up in White County, TN taxlists as early as 1814, with another William Rice in the same county. Only mine is on the censuses of 1820 and 1830. He lived on Falling Water River, less than five miles from Cane Creek, where this Daniel Rice's property was. Jacob Rice was a merchant in McMinnville, Warren County, TN in the 1820's, and Daniel Rice was there on the 1840 census. He may also have been the same Daniel Rice in Bledsoe County, TN records in 1838. There is a strong chance my William Rice could have come through Kentucky from North Carolina. Hopefully, I'll discover who his family was. Thanks Will Smith
