Does any one know if Peter Kearns mentioned in the above land transaction is a son of Peter Kearns and Anna Jordan, whose children appear in Shelby Co marriage records? A Peter Kearns Jr bought 80 acres in Brown Twp, Montgomery Co IN 16 May 1826 and again on 1 Nov 1826. Is this the same Peter Kearns who fought in the Battle of Tippecanoe? Could this event have been a key to why some many Shelby Co KY citizens moved with family and friends to the Montgomery Co area? Granted, the Battle of Tippecanoe was fought at Battleground, which is in Tippecanoe Co IN, or about 20 miles due north. Sharon Mills
