There was a James Hickman, Senior and wife Eliz. born in MD, and who came from Winchester, VA to Shelbyville about 1816 with their family that included 8 sons and a daughter. One son was Euclid, and this name is found in other generations. Other sons were William, Joseph, Ralph, Thomas, Lawrence, James, Euclid, Benjamin and John. James, Sr. was born in Calvert Co., MD 10 Oct 1761 and died at Shelbyville, KY 10 Apr 1843. James Senior was son of William and Jane (Talbott). Your Hickmans may be of this family. I am trying to prove my descent from James, Senior, thru his son, James, who I believe to be my 3rd great grandfather who left Shelbyville for Missouri. Problem is, that there was a James W. also in Shelbyville, and one researcher thought him to be the son and no my James.
