The Petition For a New State lists 12 pages of signatories(!) while the petition opposing theformation of "Transylvania" has 84 signatories. The actual wording of the petitions are not given - just the names of those who signed. Sarah
Does anyone have information about this Shelby Co family, particularly about NC connections? Sharon John Yount, c1749- ?, born in Hanover, [York Co., PA?] and the s/o Andreas Jundt/Yount, married Elizabeth Fouts, in c1772 in Guilford Co., NC. She was the daughter of Michael Fouts and Catherine Varner. Some believe that John and Elizabeth had 11 children. A source said that this family moved to the Waters of the Wautaga in Wilkes County(now Wautaga Co.) in 1798, subsequently was in Shelby Co., KY., and Lincoln County, TN.
I went to HotBot search engine and got a reference for a _Blackledge Bibliography_ which gives as the 8th reference: "Ten-Mile Country" by Howard L. Leckey. Fiche 6049273. Book 974.88 Vol 1-7. The title of the petition would be necessary to find that, maybe also where it was written, any other known facts. Debbie, If you're able to get there, Hendricks Co IN has quite an extensive gen. collection at the public library in Plainfield. There is much less gen. material available in Putnam Co but the courthouse has public records. I have no idea if anyone researches queries sent to the Plainfield library, but I would try that avenue to see if there is a family file, for example. They are currently in a building program, which might delay a response, but I have found the staff quite helpful. Seeking any information on a marriage between Thomas BALDWIN/BALDON and Margaret SPARR late(1780-1790) 1700's. I have picked this info up somewhere about 30 years ago. Now I dont know where I found it.
I recently received information about this publication. If anyone has a copy, will you please do a lookup. Volume 15 volume 3 Page 20.. Mention is made of George Nutterfee and Gholson Steppe Nutterfee(Nutterfield). If possible I need to know what the reference was.

Byron, I have several CD by Broderbund. I find the marrige bundle to be most helpful. Broderbund CD #2, #229 has Ky on them For example- Cd #2 has Il, In, Ky, Oh, Tn 1720-1926 while Cd #229 has Ky, NC, tN, Va 7 WVa. 1784-1850. The bundle also has #4 Md, NC, Va 1624-1915; #3 Al, Ga, SC 1641-1944; #5 Ar, Mo, Ms, Tx 1766-1981; #6 Ark 1779-1992; #226 Georgia 1754-1850; #227 Ar, Ca, Ia, La, Mn, Mo, Or, Tx 1728-1850; #1 Louisana 1718-1925; & #400 Ohio 1789-1850. I know there is duplicate state listed but I have found that there is additonal mgs listed on one that isn't on the other. Unfortunately, I do not have Pa, or the upper New England states at present. Nor a very good listing for Maryland. I think you can purchase CD individually also. Some of the CD doesn't help right now but you never know- these people moved all over the place!!! I am searchng from ca 1650 forward, but I have data from the 1400 and before on some lines. IF you ever search IND or ILL- those County marriage INDEXES to 1850 is online at Rootsweb. Indiana's from Indiana State Library. Illinois is online from the State Lib/Gen soc. Freely accessible to everyone. I am trying to get Ky to do the same thing but don't really know how to go about it. Would do all that I can to help in the project. Would sure like to see Ky's on line. My ancestors there from 1785 to 1923- so am chasing them all over Ky and can't seem to get out of Ky. I do-do LIMITED look-up as my time permits. I am a 2nd shifter so my time isn't a whole lot. I just help where I can- when I can. I have an index to the mgs of Nelson Co (my own index= just names and dates) then I purchsed the Nelson Co Genealogist's books which has the complete records. Have Shelby Co mgs 1792-1830 but it is just an index (as are the CDs) which helps you locate the records that you are seeking. I guess the answer to your question is: all Ky counties marriages are given- it depends on the time frame because all do not go to 1850 while others goes much later. I find it has been a good investment for me tho I get frustrated because the complete record is not there!!! Mary A.
