Hi Mary, Thanks for responding to my post. I would be happy to share information . . . Thomas Tucker is my brick wall. Have you been able to prove a relationship between Thomas and Peter Tucker? Thomas Tucker's daughter reported that he was born in Maryland; I know from his gravesite that he was born about 1775. The person I believe to be his second wife also reported in the 1850 census that she was born in Maryland. Another (unproven) source puts them in Culpeper County in about 1800. Thomas's oldest son, Hezekiah, was born in Virginia in 1800. The earliest I have found Thomas in Shelby County (so far) is about 1808. I'm willing to share any information I have, and will look forward to hearing from you. Are you by chance a professional genealogist? I have been toying with the idea of hiring someone, since I am so far away (Florida) from the Kentucky records I really need in order to go much further. Hope to hear from you soon, Vicki In a message dated 02/09/2000 2:51:18 PM Eastern Standard Time, mayoder@davesworld.net writes: > Am interested in Thomas Tucker. Hi Janet, I am very interested in Smallwoods in Shelby County in those early years. Randolph, William, and Samuel Smallwood lived near my gggg-gf, Thomas Tucker, according to the 1810 census. Thomas lived in the Elk Creek area of ShelbyCounty, which later became Spencer. He was born in Maryland, and allegedly was married to Mary Catherine Smallwood, then Elizabeth Smallwood. His oldest son's name is Hezekiah, which certainly supports the Smallwood theory. I have long wondered if Thomas Tucker and the Shelby Smallwoods travelled to KY together. I have some information that Thomas was in Culpeper VA in 1800, though I have not yet confirmed that. Would love to talk further! A kind soul has sent me a transcription of Henry NEWMAN's 1833 Spencer Co. will (signed in 1833 and probated in 1835). He was married to Fanny PULLIAM and their sons were James-Henry, Henry, Thomas, Simeon, Ezekiel; their daughters are listed as Agnes, Matilda and Rachel MCGAUGHEY, Elizabeth THOMPSON, Nncy CISSEL, Rebecca HAGAN, Margaret NEAL, Martha CISSEL. I am trying to 1) trace this family back into Maryland/Virginia, but there are several possible Henry and Thomas NEWMANs and I need help in sorting them out. 2) find a link between this family and my Gr-gr-grandfather George NEWMAN who married MAry Magdalen HAGAN. Any help will be appreciated and reciprocated where I can. Byron Marshall (grandson of Hallie (Newman) MILTON
