My Clarkson family was in Shelby co KY before 1803. Does anyone have access to Shelby co Ky deeds to see if there are any pre-1803 deeds for them???? My William Clarkson was born in VA and so were some of his children until 1799. However, I can't find the county that he came from. Any help would be appreciated. Donna

Like the IRS, there are two Census Forms. A short form and a long form. Some people get the short and some get the long. Don't know if it is a random thing or based on a percentage basis. By the way I understand the Census Bureau is look for part-timers ($12.00 per hour) to help them in their enumerations. Who better than a genealogist to fill the breech? Regards, Rebel L. They told me the 2000 Census papers were very indepth. I heard they ask income bracket, and all the things you said they didn't have on it. They are even having discussions on talk shows about how so much info isn't any of there business. Haven't seen one yet just listening to it discussed on the radio. You're right. They should ask something a little more in-depth. BUT on the other hand 70 years ago our ancestors didn't have computers, the web, and programs like Family Tree Maker. Just got my 2000 Census papers, spent about 5 minutes filling them out, and am sitting now thinking about how frustrated our descendants are going to be 70 years from now when these things become public. All they ask for is name, sex, age, birthday, and race - nothing about occupation, years in country, where born, education, where parents are from, values of estate/property, etc - all those things that make reading those old census reports so interesting. Sorry if this is too far off-topic - just a thought. George

I corresponded with a woman quite awhile back about a WILLIAM WILLIAMS who married an Elizabeth. The woman I spoke with sent me a will for William Williams and it is dated February 1801 and was probated in a Shelby county court. The woman I spoke with was descended from William's daughter Nancy who married Samuel Bryant. I would like to speak with you again but have lost the address. Debra Carter tara37@comsys.net

Leon, Saw your message re Richard Ridgway and found some info in my copy of "Shelby Co., KY Wills & Estates, 1792-1817" by Chas. M. Franklin; Heritage House, Indianapolis, IN, 1986.
