Coreen, I would be very happy if you can find anything that would tie Joseph Mills (abt 1851 to 1926) of the Mt Eden/Snider area of Spencer Co to the Harvey Mills family. OR anything at all on Harvey Mills. Be specific, what do you need about Zachariah Fisher? He married Pheby BRACKETT, a sister to my ancestor Nancy Brackett who marred Coleman DANIEL. I havea good deal of information after his marriage, but very little before. Grace
It would be wonderful if you could look up: Frederick Nance (or Nantz), died 1835 in Washington Cty Thanks! Linda in MN

Kathy, From what I can gather, there was a series of "Goodspeed" type biographies published in the late 1800's by Perrin, Battle, & Kniffin that covered much of the state in various volumes. Some of these are available in reprint but, as far as my book dealer knows, not the one covering Shelby Co. If anyone knows any differently please let me know - these things are really good sources.. Hi, I am new to the list, and I am researching the families of Clark, Hill, Ragsdale, Staton and Pollard in the early years since the formation of the county until about 1850, by which time most of my branches of the family had moved to Indiana. I am looking for a local researcher who would be willing to do some courthouse research for me for a reasonable fee. I am unable to travel due to caring for my disabled granddaughter. If there is an interested party there, please contact me at mkbowlin@iland.net , to discuss fees. Would also like to know if there was ever published a "Goodspeed" history for Shelby county, KY, that had the biographies of some of the citizens in the back of the book, and if so, if it is still available for sale. Thank you, Kathy Bowlin

Brad, Don't know about the Franklin book, but I have quite a bit of information on some of the Gough Family. My gr grandmother was a Gough. She & her parents moved to Moultrie & Shelby counties, IL in about 1840 from Oldham County, KY. Oldham was formed from parts of Shelby, Jefferson & adjoining KY counties. Let me know what help I can provide. I have not been able to find Warrens birth place in VA (maybe Fairfax) or death place or their marriage to try and find out who his parents are. Jane's parents were Caleb Stone from Fairfax. What does the 1860 censes say. Thank for your help. This is great. Allison "B.K.Marshall" wrote: > Allison: > I just looked up "W" Davis in the 1850 census for > Shelby Co. Allison: I just looked up "W" Davis in the 1850 census for Shelby Co. There is a farmer listed as 72 years old in Dist #1, dwelling #499, household #1 who had in his household a 64 year-old female "J." -- both born in VA -- and two younger KY-born males one 7 and one 24. The handwriting is so ornate that I cannot make out their initials. I also have a Warren and a Jane in the 1860 census. Is this your line? Byron "Allison W. I dont think you're clogging up the lines at all. I think its wonderful and very generous of you to do as many lookups as you are for all the people who write to you. Thank you for the info on Andrew Holmes. If you ever come across any other info on him like his other children besides Polly and Robert and when he was born and where and who his parents were it would be great. Don't mean to burden you further. I actually enjoy reading what you write to everyone even if its not my family. It's interesting. keep up the great work and all the help you are giving to other people. Too bad everyone isn't as generous as you. Thank you. Laurel
Hi keep seeing all the Wills looksups-- my ancestors in Shelby County are Woods --Ahijah Woods d. 1828, his son Jonathan Woods, grandson Issac Munson Woods Am really looking for info on them and Jonathan'swife Hopestill Morris who lived until June 1877-- and was in her 80s or 90s. Have only info on Hopestill that she was born in North Carolina according to the 1870s census. They also owned a lot of land in Shelby Co. near Shelbyville? Thanks for any help Jennifer Woods (Issac Munson Woods' great-grandaughter)

George, thank you for doing look-ups for people. I have read all your answers, this was a fun answer to run across. James Christie, Sr is the ggg grandfather of my husband, Dean. James, Jr and Israel are brothers of his gg grandmother, Elizabeth Christie Dunn. Elizabeth married Hosea Dunn in Shelby Co., KY. 1820. Some books show marriage as 1821 but actual marriage license has 1820. Evan Miles married into the Christie family.
