I didn't find her with her husband on the 1880 census, but did find Henry (Jeff) and his brothers and half sisters. I know this to be correct, because in his obit it listed the two half sisters. They were living in Illionis at the time of his death and traveled to Kansas with Gertrude Beeson and family. I have never heard any of the stories that you are telling me, but in doing this line I figured the Indian came from Louisa (Hunt) Ratliff's line. This is based upon the information and the obit I obtained from her. Out of curiousity, where do you live. I have so much information that it would take a lot to copy and mail. I live in Lawrence, KS and would be glad to meet with you sometime. I could probably keep right on telling you story after story. My husband's mother's father is Archie Spence! . That's how we tie in to the family. Henry and Mary were separated, at the time that Henry died. He was living with his wife's brother, Ben Ratliff. Got to go for now. Write me when you get time.
