The following obituary appeared in the May 9, 2004 edition of The News-Gazette, Champaign, Illinois: "Eldred Bray, 76, of Clinton (Illinois) died at 5:40pm Friday, May 7, 2004, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Normal (Illinois). Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Thursday (5/13/2004) at Calvert Funeral Home, 201 S. Center St., Clinton. The Rev. Roger Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, with military rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday (5/12/04) at the funeral home. Mr. Bray was born April 6, 1928, in Russell Springs, Ky., a son of Kie and Nancy Clinton Bray. He married Maxine Thomas on Aug. 1, 1956 in Chicago. She died March 3, 1986. Survivors include a son, Tony Bray of Normal; two stepsons, Larry VanAshley of Arizona and William G. Taylor of Clinton; a brother, Velmer Bray of Clinton; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Bray was retired from Wilson Chrysler, Clinton. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars and an Illini Basketball fan. Memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center, Normal." I have no connection to this family, and no other information on this individual.
