This September 7, 1915. Signed: J.W. Thomas, Clerk Green County Court. State of Kentucky) County of Green) The affiant and claimant, Jeremiah Skaggs, states that whereas in his above styled claim for increase of pension, under the Act of May 11, 1912, the date of his birth appears as July 16 and July 26, 1840, he now desires to explain said discrepancy under oath and says that he was born on the 26th, day of July, 1840; and that that part of said claim which states that he was born July 16, 1840 is incorrect and an error; that said error in stating that the date of his birth was July 16, 1840 was inadvertantly made by the person who wrote his application for increase of pension, and was an oversight; and that he is able to fix said date as the true and correct date of his said birth from the statements of his mother to him during her lifetime and from the family record of his birth as kept in the family bible of his family, a certified copy of which is filed with this affidavit, and which shows the true and correct date of his birth as July 26, 1840. He states that in the summers of 1850 and 1860, he lived near the town of Jamestown, Russell County, Kentucky; that in the year of 1850 he lived with his parents near said town in said county and state; that in the summer of 1860 he lived with one Joel Blankenship near said town and in said county and state; that the full names of his parents, sisters and brothers, living in June, 1850 and June, 1860, were: Henry Skaggs, father; Elizabeth Skaggs, mother; Perry Skaggs, brother; Nancy Skaggs, sister; James Allen Skaggs, brother; Fields Skaggs, brother; General Jackson Skaggs, brother; and Joel Skaggs, brother; and that these were all the names of his parents, brothers and sisters living at said times.
