He arrived in New Orleans and lived there quite a few years. He eventually married and moved to St Helena Parish, Louisiana. If anyone knows anything about this family prior to coming to America I would love to hear from you. Thanks Charlene

    3. Hi Charlene, I was wondering where in Germany your Wellhausen came from. This is not my family but my husband's family came from Germany. I have a book "We Will Go to a New Land - The Great East Frisian Migration to America, 1845-1895" by Robert H. Behrens. It is now out of print but there are a lot of Heinrich's mentioned in it. It seems most of these people came into the U.S. by the way of New Orleans. This book tells the struggles they encountered in their journey. My husband's family came by boat up the Mississippi River to Illinois. There are others who went to Texas and all the way to Minnesota. You might check with your library and see if you can get a copy of this book. Good luck!
