Betty, Another interesting story about your Moses Harkness Wilson. When he married Sherwood Stephens and Malinda Hopper in 1837 in Russell Co, KY he put my gr, gr grandfather's name Shadrack Williams Stephens on his marriage return as the groom. Shadrack was married to Jemima Roy at the time and the father of a son. This incorrect marriage is still on the marriage records of Russell Co, KY. Malinda Hopper was the daughter of Joseph Hopper and Agnes Stephens and the sister of Melissa Hopper who married Moses Harkness Wilson. Agnes Stephens was the daughter of William Stephens who was the 1/2 older brother of my ancestor Dudley Stephens of Russell Co, KY. Rosemary, Thanks for the info. I'll have to get together with you and share some of what I have. My dad was related to the Wilson's too. My 3rd great grandfather was Seth Wade, Sr. and he was married to Antippie Elizabeth Wilson. I have her parents as Moses Wilson, b. abt. 1788 Henry Co., VA, d. abt. 1851 Russell Co., KY, m. abt. 1809 to Anna Stephens. Some of my information may be wrong. I've gotten so mixed up with the Anna, Susanna, and some of the rest of the Stephens family. Can't keep it all straight. I'll have to email you off-line and see if you can help make sure I've got it all correct. Thanks again. Rosemary, My records show Shadrack W. Stephens married to Mary Winfrey (2nd marriage?) in the 1870's. Mary Winfrey was the older sister of Thomas J. Winfrey, my g.grandfather who lived in Russell County. If you are interested, I have some very limited data on "Dr." Shadrack Stepens that I would be happy to send to you via e-mail. D.C. Hi, Shadrack Williams Stephens was my gr, gr grandfather by his second marriage to Nancy Emery Cannifax. Mary Winfrey was his third wife. He was having children by her while still married to Nancy. I recently found their wedding date, just a year before he died in Overton Co, TN. I doubt if Shadrack was a Dr. I know his son Erasmus, my gr grandfather had home made remedies for everyone. I would be interested in anything you might have.
