Louisa was Henry's mother-in-law or in other words Mary Ann's mom. Do you have a genealogy program, like PAF (Personal Ancestral File) so that I could send you a ged.com of my files? Let me know. I'm sure I have a lot of information that would be useful to you. Again, I think it would be great if we could meet. Mike, my husband, and I are wondering if you could be from the Ramey line in Missouri that we know. Wouldn't that be a coincidence? More later. Jan

That is what I started Henry's line in. I have yet to sit down and put my grandpa's side on it. But I can show you what I have thus far if you like. You are from my grandma's side. So was Louisa one of Henry's children? And I found another line for Mary, was she a twin? Talk to you soon. Laurie

I didn't find her with her husband on the 1880 census, but did find Henry (Jeff) and his brothers and half sisters. I know this to be correct, because in his obit it listed the two half sisters. They were living in Illionis at the time of his death and traveled to Kansas with Gertrude Beeson and family. I have never heard any of the stories that you are telling me, but in doing this line I figured the Indian came from Louisa (Hunt) Ratliff's line. This is based upon the information and the obit I obtained from her. Out of curiousity, where do you live. I have so much information that it would take a lot to copy and mail. I live in Lawrence, KS and would be glad to meet with you sometime. I could probably keep right on telling you story after story. My husband's mother's father is Archie Spence! . That's how we tie in to the family. Henry and Mary were separated, at the time that Henry died. He was living with his wife's brother, Ben Ratliff. Got to go for now. Write me when you get time. It always so wonderful to meet family!!!!!!! Jan

How wonderful it is to find family! Jamima was my great grandma and her daughter Ethel was my grandma and Ethel's son Francis was my father. That is how that goes down the line. I have a listing of all of Henry and Mary Children if you need them. Jan, I have been told all my life there was Cherokee in this line somewhere. Do you know anything about it? Ethel always told me her great, or great great, or 3xgreat (i don't remember how many greats there were in the story) grandma was full blooded cherokee and used to wash her face in her own urine each night and had the most beautiful complexion. How ever that sounds! My father Francis used to say he was one generation away from receiving money as a native american. I don't know the truth behind all these stories, just heard them is all. Do you know of Mary's lineage, any native american there? I am so glad you wrote back, please lets keep in touch! Laurie
This is not appropriate to this list. While it is ok to post titles with contact information if the item is related to Russell County, KY. I would likely allow materials dealing with Wayne and other counties from which Russell was created. This subscriber has been placed on moderation for the time. I will call subscribers attention to item 11 in the welcome message everyone receives when subscribing: "11. Advertising. Technically, RootsWeb has a "no commercial use" policy. Like all RootsWeb policies, though, the last thing that we want is for policy to get in the way of our doing genealogy. Therefore, the KYRUSSEL list will accept brief announcements of books and other resource material for sale that is specifically related to this county. Don't include prices and ordering info; just include a pointer to a URL, a commercial mailing list, or an e-mail address where the complete ordering information can be found. In case In case of doubt, send the message to the list custodian, gflanagan@adelphia.net, and I'll review it and forward it to the list if appropriate." Clearly this item violates that. Had it not mentioned price and ordering info [and imho rather expensive for a little under 200 pages - I wouldn't pay it] I might have allowed it since Russell was created from Wayne. I realize I have asked for this information before, but am hoping that someone new has joined the group, or someone has found something that might be helpful in my search....... Noma ANTLE (b/ca 1904, probably in Russell County) was the daughter of Andrew J. and Lela A. HELM ANTLE. Andrew was born in Russell County in March 1880. In the 1900 Russell County Census (Creelsboro), he was 21 years old, single and living with his parents. Andrew and Lela were married about 1901, and Andrew was deceased by about 1909 when Lela remarried. In the 1910 Russell Co. Census for Creelsboro, Noma was 6 years of age; living in the household of her mother and husband, Lela and Edward BRADSHAW; and listed as Edward's step-daughter. In the 1920 Russell Co. Census for Jackson's Bottom & Creelsboro, Noma was 15 years of age, and was listed as the daughter of Edward BRADSHAW. Noma ANTLE was married to Hollie KINNETT on 18 Mar 1925 in Russell County. Noma ANTLE KINNETT died about 1936 (or early 1937), either in childbirth or shortly thereafter. She left six children (three sons and three daughters) including the infant, with the oldest child being 12 years of age. One of her daughters, Louise Ruth (b/26 Apr 1929) died a few weeks following the death of the mother. I believe the family lived in the vicinity of Jamestown at the time of her death. The two older boys continued to live with their father, but the other children were sent to live other families. I would like to know if there is anyone who has any details about the death of Noma, and where she is buried. Or, if anyone could tell me where to search for information. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Eva

His grandfather, Archie Spence, was a brother to Jamina (sp?) Spence. I have some information on the Ratliff's also. In fact I have additional information beyond John Spence. Henry Spence was in Lawrence or Martin County KY in 1880. Since I don't have my computer in front of me, I can't get to the data to give you an exact account of where he was. Henry was living with his stepfather at the time. I would be very glad to share what information I have, with you, in exchange for what you have. Maybe, together, we can get this figured out. None of the children of Henry (better known as Jeff) and Mary Ann are living now. The youngest of the children passed away in 2004. Keep in touch. Jan Grady

This Drewry Wilkerson is buried in the Wilkerson Cemetery in Northern Russell County near the Casey County line. John Carter married a widow Sarah Murray. I do not know if he was married before. She had three daughters Rachel, Nancy, and Mary who married Bradshaw, Early, and Wilkerson. I am only guessing that he is a son or brother of my Thomas Isaac Carter who married Elizabeth Oldacre. Nancy may have been his sister. She married Green Acree George Washington Carter is my gggrandfather who married Mary Polly Rayburn. He was either born in 1805 or 1812. It is said that Thomas was killed during War of 1812. I know Elizabeth filed for a poor widows pension but I have never found that she got it. Hope we share some info? I have wondered whether Enos was a brother or uncle to my GW. I still believe that all of the Carters there are one family. Sandy

The John Carter had wife named Arminta or something like that but she was not old enough to be mother of his children. I think this John was married to a Sarah who died before 1860 census. John is 60 born VA and Sarah is 76 NC in 1850 Russell census. They have a Elizabeth Stills 16 living with them. 1860 Russell census: John 70 Amninta 50 and a John Lovell 11. Do you think Thomas & John might be brothers as they were in Russell before 1830? This is my husbands' family and I have not worked too much on it but working to get his sister to get involved. They are related to the Jones' & Gadberry's of that area of KY in the middle 1800s.
