Some of us would get off the bus with Robert and run in and buy penny candy, cokes.....then catch the bus as it came back out for the ride home. Sharon

    1. Re:Samuel Wooldridge
    2. I looked up on ANCESTRY and found a Samuel Wooldridge b-Abt 1792 in Adair Co., Ky. A Missouri 1860 census listed a Samuel Wooldridge residing in Lynn, Oregon Co,. Missouri. Showed a wife as Sarah and a son William 10 years old. Also showed Samuel dying in 1869 in Oregon Co., Mo. Samuel's name listed another place with a John B. Wooldridge, born about 1820 in Ky. Residence in 1850, District 1, Russell Co., Ky. My husband related to John Sam Wooldridge and Opal Wilson Wooldridge. They both died at St. James Hospital, Pontiac, Livingston Co., Illinois and both buried in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac, Ill. I have copies of Obits for both and picture of Tombstone. If person related to them wants copies of these items, please E-Mail _Valletta1@aol.com_ (mailto:Valletta1@aol.com) and send address and I will snail mail to them. We lived in Pontiac, Ill in the 1950's. Husband now deceased. Catherine Reiners

    3. Angela, Do you have any other information on Samuel Wooldridge? My great uncle was John Sam Wooldridge but he wasn't born until 1901. He married my aunt, Olza Opal Wilson. Since this isn't my direct line, I haven't done anything with it. I do have a couple of people that I know are doing the Wooldridges though. It might help them to know any other information in order to get the correct one. Surnames: Conover Roy Cravens Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XBB.2ACE/1749.2 Message Board Post: I recently got pension files for Hiram J. Conover who was one of Levi and Mary's sons and got a lot of information. Hiram Conover died at Huff's Ferry, TN in my ggg-grandfather William Henry Conover's arms after being shot by a sniper, and Levi filed for a pension on him after the war. Levi and Mary were married at Hiram Cravens' house by Harrison Absher on Feb 27, 1840. I am assuming that Mary's father is Hiram Cravens, especially given the namesake. I'm not sure if any of this stuff tells where her parents were born, but I will let you know if I find it. I am in the process of transcribing all the papers into Word. Levi and Mary are both buried at the Perryman Cemetery, and both have stones. According to the pension files, Mary was born 1816 and died Sep 8, 1887 from failure and congestion of the brain. All of their children have stones standing except for Nancy Conover-Roy. She is listed as being buried at the Perryman Cemetery, but she definitely doesn't have a ! stone. I know for a fact that her husband Silas Roy is buried at the Freedom Church (Christian) on Freedom Church Road. I have seen his stone and it is marked with his military reg., 13th KY INF Co. B. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XBB.2ACE/1760 Message Board Post: Web site update 4/09/05 http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/ The Historic Atlas Series has been updated to include township and precinct level atlases from Pennsylvania and Kentucky. By popular request, we are currently digitizing more of these kinds of atlas and map data, and will be adding more in the coming weeks. Kentucky: http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/ky_map/ky_index.html Pennsylvania: http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/pa_map/pa_index.html At the present, atlas CD's are offered from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Missouri, West Virginia and Virginia will be added later this year so please feel free to check back often. The Historic Atlas Series may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century places and place names. Many early property owners are indicated on the township and precinct level maps making these a great resource for identifying 19th century land ownership. Each atlas includes the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms * land ownership - and much, much more Details on early maps are often difficult to read and these are no exception; however, by virtue of high resolution Adobe PDF formatting, map documents may be inspected at high levels of magnification without additional digital distortion; something that simply cannot be accomplished with paper reproductions and photocopies. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. The map data has been created and configured using the Adobe Acrobat Reader (6.0) for MS Windows (98, 98SE, XP, NT and 2000). The maps may be viewed in earlier versions of the software as well; however, optimum use of the data can be expected using the Adobe Reader 6.0 that is included on each CD. 3. 1870 census of Russell Co., KY, lists Louisa WARE, age 44 KY, Nelly J. age 18 KY, Isabell age 16 KY and NATHAN age 14 KY. Throughout the various censuses the surname Weir is often spelled WARE. Nathan Weir is found in the 1900 Russell census as being born Nov. 1864 TN with his parents born in TN. He married his wife MARY ca. 1880. I do not find the family in any census prior to 1870. Maybe this will help some. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mld7@comcast.net> To: <KYRUSSEL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 08, 2005 4:11 PM Subject: [RUSSELL COUNTY, KY] Re: WEIR > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Weir, Webb > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XBB.2ACE/420.435 > > Message Board Post: > > My great grandfather was Nathan Weir, buried at Mt. I do not have much info, so I do not know if he was part of your family. I think his middle name was Allen. Here's what I do know. He was born in 1891 or 1892. He married Irene Guthrie, and they had one child, my father --- Robert Alexander Selby --- on July 10, 1918 in Clarksburg, W. Virginia. He also lived in Ohio and was a shoe salesman. Irene divorced him, and Clarence married a woman named Catherine. She was crippled with arthritis. They retired to Vero Beach, Florida. He died in the 1960's or 1970's. He was an alcoholic, and I believe he died from alcohol related complications. Does this sound like the Clarence A Selby in your family? Pam Selby Schlueter

    3. Debbie, I believe this is your Lyman!!!! The census says son. Might explain who Papa was!!! The age is right.............and they are 2 houses from George and Martha Cape Morrison. In 1900 Sally Barger is living with Martha as a widow and one of the girls were married at the home of Jack Barger. (I have the marriagee bond somewhere) So John and Jack Barger are prob. the same man.............our step Ggggg grandpap. You are the first person I thought of when I found this. I was hoping you would reply as I had lost your address when my son reformated for me. I've been working on my Cape file today and I think we need to add another Thomas Cape to the family and possibly another William. Both had Land Grants in Cumberland Co.,Ky the same time as our John's.
