    1. 19th Century Kentucky Research Material
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XBB.2ACE/1778 Message Board Post: Hello the list! Please excuse the cross-postings. I realize that many researchers subscribe to multiple lists and probably don't want to receive more than one copy of the same message; however, I'm trying to reach as wide an audience of Kentucky historians and genealogists as possible so please bear with me. We are actively engaged in digitizing scarce and out-of-print 19th century map and atlas data for use in genealogical and historical research of this period of Kentucky's history. Each month we receive a number of requests for specific material; either individual maps of a specific region or county atlases from a specific period. Until now, there has been no urgency to document requests for material, and the requests have been handled more or less piecemeal. With this in mind, the short questionnaire below was developed. If you are interested in hard to find research material that is configured for compatible access from your computer, please take a couple of minutes to respond to the five questions below by e-mailing me directly off-list. questions@historic-atlas-series.com Again, thank you for your time and cooperation. 1.) What features are you most interested in when using 19th century atlases and maps in your research? Land owners? Industrial or Commercial site locations? Place names? Transportation routes? 2.) What statistical and historical atlas data do you find most useful in your research? Population? Agriculture? Geological Data? County Histories? Biographical Sketches? Illustrations of People and Places? 3.) What specific region or regions of Kentucky are you most interested in? Please list all counties of interest and any specific material you would like to have computer access to. Include any known bibliographic references. 4.) For general material listed in question 3, please provide the periods of time or date ranges of interest. Again, for specific requests please provide bibliographic reference. 5.) When using research material that has been formatted for computer access, which is the most important: Resolution and detail of the images for printing? Speed of loading and access? Thank you for taking the time to reply to this questionnaire. questions@historic-atlas-series.com We value the input of folks who ultimately will use research material that has been configured for use electronically. Your comments, suggestions and requests for material will be recorded and prioritized, and will influence the kinds of material we continue to make available for researchers such as yourselves. Best Regards, Rich Green Historic Atlas Series http://www.historic-atlas-series.com

    1. Allen and Jones
    2. Marie W. Dyess
    3. I am researching James and Mary (?) Allen's line. Their son Henry, b. in GA, married Nancy A. Jones in McMinnville, TN. in 1832. Henry Allen was killed in 1863 in Clinton Co, KY during the Civil War. Their daughter, Mary Ann Allen married James Mason and their daughter, Abigail Allen married (1) Elijah Jones and (2) William Sullivan. Abigale and Elijah had these known children: David Jones, Elizabeth Jones and James Jones. Abigale and William Sullivan had these known children: Clemence Sullivan , Peter Sullivan who married Malissa Allen; and twins, Stephen and Thomas Sullivan. Steven Sullivan married Hannah Wilkerson. Does anyone know if Elijah Jones and Nancy A. Jones were related? and if so how? The Allen and Jones families lived in the Russell, Wayne or Clinton Counties at various times. I would appreciate any information on the Allen and Jones families.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XBB.2ACE/1775 Message Board Post: I am looking for someone that has knowledge of William H. O Bernard that married Sarah Wilkerson. He was the son of Abner Bernard and Rebecca Perkins. His James Henry Bernard married Susie Bell Luttrell. He was 40 and she was 16. Census records indicated it was a thrird marriage for him. My father remembers his uncle Hannibal? coming around when he was young. He used to buy them ice cream. Hanibal was living in Indiana at the time. I don't think they had any children because he would buy my father and sisters clothing because they were rather poor. James Henry had a gambling problem. I think he was married to a woman named Marguet Hart in 1910, she had a son in 1911 named James Bernard 2 but he passed away in the 1920's which was after James Henry hooked up with Susie Bell. I just would like to know what happened. HIs father William Hector Owens Bernard was supposedly a country Doc of some sort because he delivered all of Susie Bell's children. My Aunt remembers someone calling from the Russell County area at one time wanting to know if they wanted William H. O. Bernard's medical books. He went by the name of Heck. When James Henry Bernard died in 1966 in Harrodsburg, KY, my Aunt says people came from all over Russell County to the funeral. Of cours! e there is know book or anything. No even a death certificate. My Aunt says that it was always hush hush about this kind of stuff in the family but I figure some older folks know something. I would just like to know why he basically disowned his family from Russell County. So if any of you Bernard researchers have any suggestions of why or how this all happended I would really appreciate the help. I will be in KY within the next month for a visit. Please let me know if there is anyone I can call or go visit or where to look. Thanks Tammy Bernard

Edward Long b:@ 1810 AL Alsey S Long b:1814 TN The family settled in Texas and was on the 1850 Hopkins County Texas census. Family history says the family was from KY, the 1850 census shows all the children born in TN. I am thinking that the family may have left TN, migrated thru KY and finally settled in Texas. Edward died about 1858/59, as Alsey is listed as the HOH with the children on the 1860 Texas census. I know that there are marriages between the Longs and Hayes, Hails, Spradlings, Morris family lines.
