My great-great-great grandmother's name was Sarah Pierce and she was born in 1820 in VA. She was married the first time in Illinois at the age of 14. She goes to California and is there during the gold rush. In 1854, she takes a boat back to New York. She has a son named Richard Franklin Kelley. Richard Franklin is not named after his father's side of the family. Sarah is in Missouri in 1860 and she is listed as owning one slave, an 18 year old female. In 1870 we find out the female's name is Dolly and she was born in Kentucky. I am trying to find who my great-great-great grandmother's parents or siblings were. It is probably a long shot, but with Franklin Pierce being a slave owner in Kentucky, and Sarah, who has named her son Richard Franklin, and has a slave named dolly that was born in Kentucky, is it possible to somehow connect Franklin Pierce with Sarah?
I too descend from Reuben and Lettice, but am female, as are all my siblings. But would love to be kept posted of the findings! Cain," dated March 22, 1886; (yet he was also supposed to have married Coatney Cain on the same date in Waterloo, Pulaski County??) If "Coatney" is the daughter of Ephriam Cain, then her mother was named Rebecca. 1880 Russell County Census has "Claryan C" as the wife of Samuel Chumbley. In the 1850 census, there was a daughter Margaret, age 5, with the Ephriam Cain family. Lots of land went back and forth between Chumbleys and Cains (Ephriam, Smith W, and Milford Cain). Can anyone help? Coatney, Rebecca, Clarann or A. Cain. Thanks, Alice Chumbley Lora

Hi Gina, My great grandparents are Lewis Hart & Lavina/Servina/Vina Hurd/Herd. Lavina is buried at the Wilson/Hart cemetery off Selby Hopper Road in Russell County, near Fonthill. I'm not sure where Lewis is buried. I'll give you whatever information I have. I'm having problems copying my files and making ready for e-mail. Also, my server is not letting some of the e-mails come through so if you e-mail me at ercol@mo-net.com and it bounces back, use puttshutt@yahoo.com I see your name is Hughes. My aunt, Nancy Hart, married C.V. Hughes; aunt, Velice Hart married Dallas Hughes, and uncle Okle (Rod) Hart married Marie Hughes. Are you any relation to these? I'll put together something for you on the Hart/Hurd line and get back with you direct. Thanks. Looking for any info on James Herd and his wife. Parents of Luevina (spelling may be wrong) who married Louis Hart (of Russell County). Lived during the early to mid 1800's. Believed to be buried in Russell County (although not 100% sure). I remember seeing burial info on them and didnt record it because at that time I didnt know they were part of my tree. (Frustrating mistake). Any info is appreciated. Gina
