Thanks, Tweeks Articles from the Russell County News: December 18, 1941 Warren Long Shot by Town Marshall Warren Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Long, of [Jamestown], was shot and seriously wounded by Town Marshall Hiram Marcum last Saturday. The shooting took place in the Murphy restaurant on North Main Street. Long's condition is quite serious, but it is believed that by careful attention he will recover. September 10, 1942 Greensburg Marshal Kills E.P. Lingle H.H. Marcum, town marshal of Greensburg, killed Earl P. Lingle in that city last Friday. Lingle, 43, World War veteran, was fatally shot by Marcum after the marshal had struck Lingle with his night club. Marcum was taken before County Judge Pilson Smith following the killing. He plead [sic] not guilty, waived examining trial and was held to the November grand jury without bond. He is being held in Jefferson county. Marcum for several months was chief of police in Jamestown. May 27, 1943 The trial of Hiram Marcum, former town marshall of [Jamestown], charged with the murder of Earl Lingle at Greensburg last August, was postponed to the October term of court at Hodgensville last Monday. Marcum, who is 70 years old, is reported as being ill at his home in Louisvile, and not able to be on hand for his trial. It will be remembered that on account of the feeling against Marcum in Green county his case was transferred to the Larue circuit court on motion of his attorney. His case has been tried once and resulted in a hung jury.

All of the other pictures I sent you were of Aaron's siblings, except for Hudson Blankenship who was his uncle. Are you descended from Aaron?

    3. Hello Theresa. I couldn't connect to the website below, but do have a bit of info. on a Logan COFFEY. He appears in the 1880 Census of Russell Co. KY. A Grandfather James HAYNES b. ca. 1790 VA is in his household at this time. I am also VERY intersted in the John C. HAYNES you mention in your post. I have info. regarding a John C. HAYNES living in White or Gallatin Co. IL. ca 1840s. He states he was b. ca. 1787 in VA, but spent his boyhood in TN. Am trying to see if this man ties in with a James HAYNES b. Feb. 1760 Bedford Co. VA d. 1848 Henry Co. TN. Please contact me direct at braisl@madisontelco.com Thanks. 1. Cemeteries
    2. In response to: <,,Thank you. I now have received very specific directions to the cemetery. I just wish there were a complete list of those whose graves were moved there when Wolf Creek Dam was built.>>> In 2001 I visited Jamestown and with some help from one of the Cemetery/Funeral Homes there, I was able to locate a quite remote cemetery near fish hatcheries below Wolf Creek Dam. It was up a very remote road which may have had a campground area whose name I do not recall. I drove through a small creek and came to a dead end house where a very kind gentleman indeed confirmed that I had just driven past the cemetery. It was a right turn-off before the creek I think. A narrow gravel-dirt almost deerpath road. Yet we found it. Many graves were moved there when the dam project was created. Very snaky area, but part of it was well-kept, the rest a mess.. This may be known as the Warriner Cemetery. I recall seeing some Knights buried there, a few Warriners and various other names. I viisted the grave of Clementine Irwin Warren who died 1876. I was a stranger there, but managed to find it. I think she helped me as I was ready to give up when by chance I found her. Left her flowers. Probably her first visit in 150 years. I think about her nearly every day. Because she died young my relative remarried later and I am here today. Only becaue Clemmie died. Unfortunately, many of the graves appeared to be just haphazardly placed or headstones tossed there. I suspect in reality, very few remains were actually re-interred there. Also the Russell County records were not dependable sorry to say. I do recall some extensive news items at the library regarding the controversy over moving the graves and just how effectively it was or was not accomplished. I understood then that apparently bodies were washing up during the huge building project. Good luck with your search. Carole
