    1. Re: [RUSSELL COUNTY, KY] To all Wilson family researchers in Adair and Russel...
    2. I have one genealogy that lists Moses Harkness as the son of Nathaniel. One of them is a genealogy compiled by William Surber Wilson (a school teacher and baptist minister) in 1976, called "Our Kentucky Kinfolks." This appears to be a very complete genealogy and cites sources. He starts with James Wilson b. abt 1710 in Virginia and lists the family this way: James Wilson Thomas Wilson Nathaniel Moses Harkness I have another genealogy (put together by descendants of Cyrus (Matt) Wilson) that lists them this way: James Wilson Thomas Wilson Moses Wilson Sr. Moses H. Wilson Jr. This genealogy is not as well documented and no sources are cited. 3. Gary, This has been posted on many message boards not only in KY but other states as well. I turned off the Gateway to KYADAIR Mail List until they get this taken care of, I like you have reported it and suggested they filter his address but then all he will need do is get another address. I do wonder how he got or has a rootsweb.com address or domain?? Good to see that you did place him or them in the Reject filter. Thanks for running a fine message board. Carlis Flannagin <gflanagan@adelphia.net> wrote: Just a note - this person spammed several lists including this one via message board posts a couple of days ago - it came through the gateway for the message board for the county. Rootsweb deleted the posts from the message boards and this one has been deleted as well, and I would have expected that they would have filtered this person by now. I have added them to the reject list, but the only way to absolutely stop it would be to turn off the gateway with the boards which I'm loathe to do, as I think much valuable information comes that way. The link looks very suspicious to me and I would advise against clicking on it. If not downright suspicious, it certainly has the earmarks of spam. 2. Sharon Pike
    3. I've gotten so many requests that I'd better clarify how to get copies of the non-certified death certificates for 1911 - 1953 from the Kentucky Historical Society. You have to GO to the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort to copy them yourself for .30. You can also request a library reference person to copy it for you by mail or online. The charge is $5 if you are in-state or $12 if you are out-of-state. If you want more than one certificate use the Staff Researcher service which is hourly. $25 per hour (or $15 if you are a member of the Kentucky Historical Society.) They can copy several in an hour. Please us the online index to get the certificate number and year that it was filed. (usually this is the same year as the death.) One of the easiest to use is the Kentucky Vital Records Project of the Kentucky Gen Web. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kvrp/ You can order the certificates online with a credit card from the Kentucky Historical Society. Go to http://history.ky.gov Click on "Shop the 1792 Store" Click on "research" By mail with a check in advance: Kentucky Historical Society Library 100 W. Broadway Frankfort, KY 40601
